How far should they be pressed in to the rim?

Would it matter if two, next to each other are deeper?

they should be just below flush with the out edge of the housing - maybe a couple of mm

Will it cause damage if it's a bit deeper in?

Should be ok, the first set I did, I managed to push them deep and they were fine.

Well what if it's just two while the others are flush?

Oh here what the wheel was like before

Note only one metal centre part left. Wonder why it was a bit snatchy.

that should be ok I think. Have you tried pulling them back a little?

I never fitted them so don't fancy pulling one in case i destroy it, but if its fitted wrong I'll get them to replace them.

i replaced the cush drive and would say that it would probably be better if they are all level with the wheel so there is no risk of the pins moving too much while put under pressure through the chain

Who fitted them for you? I assume they also removed the old ones. Did you send them the whole rear wheel or leave your bike with them?

Sorry for the questions, but I have a 750 that also needs this operation and I'm in Bedfordshire near Luton.

if you take the wheel out the bike and can find an engineering company near you they should be able to pull out the old cush drives then you can just put the new ones in flush with the wheel, use some locktite if needed to secure them
