I know this is going to sound really dumb to most, so forgive my ignorance.

I've never done a track day before and may well do one day - maybe even this year's.

Question is re tyres. For a track day if the weather is good I assume you guys would naturally use slicks. Now obviously you can't ride up there with slicks on, so do they provide a service at the track day where they change your tyres from road to slicks and vice versa?

Scotty
06-02-2007, 05:50 PM
no need for that
id guess that 99.9% of people on th ukmoc track day will be on road tyres

as an example of the adequatness of road tyres the Desmo Due race seres run by the DSC run roadtyres (and not a super sticky one at that)

Cheers Scotty!

Terry, cheers for your voicemail. I've just sent you a pm.

Didn't see the date it's on, so can't do this year's event. Will definitely be up for the next one though. Sounds like it'll be a good laugh!

What facilities (if any) are available for folks camping on the Thursday night? Is there somewhere to get breakfast or a hot drink on the Friday morning? I'm too old to completely rough it!

You've got a choice

You can camp on the lawn behind the pub beside the track.

Or you can camp in the paddock, supposedly the gate to the paddock is locked at 10.00 ish, so in theory you'd have to climb over the fence.

However last year the gate was still open when we left the pub a little-ish after 10.00 when the pub closed.

There's a cafe in the pits. Not sure what time it opens but I think it does a breakfast.

I live a pleasant 30 minute ride from Mallory, so maybe I'll go. The trouble is, I'm a really crap, cowardly rider even on the road...! Plus I still think as though my bikes have drum brakes (one still does) and believe the tyres only hold to the road when fully vertical.

sessions start around 9 and and go on till about 5ish, but you're free to leave anytime
as long as its between sessions, because at Mallory you have to use the track to exit
the paddock.

mand looks hot! mallory is a wicked track, ive raced it for years on sidecars and its just the b*ll*cks. gerrards is such a gd bend. if the esses are in full use without the wussie addition of 'edwinas' curves i mite take a ride down. the hairpin is tight but you get such good drive down to the devils elbow (EXTREME FUN ON A SIDECAR) then the home straight. love it......

I would love to attend, does Nean have to pay anything? she wont be riding of course, and who and how do I pay, and whats the latest kind of date to decide if we come before the event because theres always uncertanty about dates when we be on our summer hols etc.

I've heard this is open to Jap bikes now due to lack of numbers. I may give it a go if I can nail the R1 back together in time. Had a massive highside about ten days ago and the bike is a little worse for wear. I'll need new leathers too as I don't think they'll get through scrutineering.

Hi all, seems I'm cutting things fine for Mallory again.
:hail: Terry, I sent you a shout to nab a room at the Arms some yonks ago - does I still got a bed there for Thurs night?
Meanwhile, the Mostro's down at Moto Rapido but I'm hoping that they'll finish it and cart it up to mine on Tues, then it's an MOT on Wed ready for the trip Thurs evening.
If the M750 doesn't make it home in time, you're all in for larf - I'll be bringing the Indiana - yes, it IS a Ducati; yes, it IS a 750; yes, it IS a wikkid track tool - NOT! (only coz you can't get racing rubber for the 15" rear these days).

Hi All,

I heard from Nattyboy that the trackday's open to non-Ducati's now...

I've been a few years away from my old S4, the last trackday I did with UKMOC was in 2004. Was a great blast and am happy that Terry has opened this one up to non-Ducati's.

So, although Nattyboy's going on his 748, I'll be on my Triumph Thruxton 900 :eyepopping: - gotta keep it street  ... Dunno how it's gonna fare on track but I'm sure it'll be entertaining. Was undecided whether to bring that or my Daytona 675, but thought you deserved a chance, Nat ;)

Anyway, cheers for letting us on your trackday Terry, looking forward to meeting you all - again...
