carburated tank shape.

I bought a spare tank a couple of weeks ago. It is from a carbed model, and surprisingly, i has a slightly different shape from the current one i have (also from a carbed model).
the back is the same (where the seat goes), but the lower sides definitely have a different shape, they are curved on the spare tank, whereas they are flat on my old tank. The tank still fits fine on the bike though.
has anyone noticed this before ?

Squiff.. yes, i did modify the tank at some point, but i can remember touching on that part !

interesting..
the rest of the shape looks somewhat different, but i cant pinpoint where exactely. it looks wider..or maybe one part is narrower, making the wide section appear wider..
anyway, there you go, something i didnt know.
