My S4Rs only does about 80 - 85 miles before the fuel warning light comes on, then I put in about 11 litres. meaning I have about 4 lites left (maybe 30 miles). I commute 40 miles a day so I have to fill up very often.

Admittedly I do rev mine, but is this normal?

What mileage are other owners getting?

cheers

hi Guy,

My bike gives me, on average, 150-160km (90-100miles) when the reserve light comes on.. however if I'm being a bit aggressive this does drop to around 135-140km 85miles approx.

The tank range is truly pathetic. I was planning on going to the Elefantreffen this winter with some BMW GS riding buddies but the thought of refuelling every hour and a half is not nice. I'll probably end up renting a Bimmer myself.

Regards,

That sounds about right, mine comes on around the 80 miles mark too, pain in the arse when your out riding all day, having to fuel up 2-3 times in the day.

A godsend to bikers. Petrol pumps that take cards. Just stay sat on the bike., pay for fuel, fill up and go!!!!!! No hassles and much faster :)

HI, I've had around 120miles before the fuel light comes on but thats riding it normally, when you do give it some stick though the best ive seen is about 90 miles, its the only thing thats wrong with the bike really, apart from that its bloody brilliant to ride so i can put up with the tank range.

Yes i too only get on average the unbelieveable distance of 87 miles before the light comes on.
I found it dropped to this level after fitting the termi race system.
I'am thinking of taking it to a dyno shop, i believe refining the setting in the bikes new brain may inprove things.

90 miles is about right. But then that's what a puny 13 litre fuel tank affords you. I got more mileage from my 999S. Everything is a trade off and that's the price you pay for an airbox that resembles the Albert Hall. With the baffles fitted in the Termis, you can hear the induction growl as the bike sucks in another hot air balloon's worth of oxygen. It's like strapping a dozen Dysons to the front of the bike.

think I'll stick with the slow'er' S4, never get less than 120 miles before the light comes on, usually 130.

I used to have a firestorm that gobbed petrol, 90 before the light came on, pain in the back side.

S4r now down to 90. Not yet fully run in but I expected it to stay around 100 with a slight improvement in consumption during running in, balancing me pushing harder.

The fuel range has put me off taking the S4Rs to France to see my Dad. Have you ever tried getting fuel on a Sunday when you do not have a French credit card and are miles away from an Autoroute?

My Guzzi V11 will do about 180 miles at 90mph cruising so will take that instead- shame as I would love to take the Monster.
