Looks like a small B road on Multimap, but the road from Newtown to Dolgellau the A470 can be fun with some scenic valleys to ride along en route to Snowdonia.

Buy this months Ride magazine as it has all the best rider recommended routes in the UK in it this month. Its the Rider Power 2006 edition.

I've done it a couple of times on my Guzzi- need good brakes on the descent. Nice little pass but nowhere near as good as the Pass Of The Cattle near Applecross in Scotland.
Here is a map showing the location http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=290000.404272962&Y=330000.211727396&width=700&height=400&gride=292344.404272962&gridn=335964.211727396&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=0&scale=200000&multimap.x=369&multimap.y=341
