It can be a way of avoiding ebay fee's. Notice how you have to email the seller, but not via ebay!! They can the contact you directly.

Also can be used for scams... when contacting you directly they can say that their paypal account no longer functions, etc can you pay Cash...

Example of scam is here: http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/Why-not-to-bid-on-50-brand-new-mobiles-for-10-start_W0QQugidZ10000000000054079?ssPageName=BUYGD: CAT:-1:LISTINGS:2

That might be but I'm fairly sure that this is genuine: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ducati-748-916-and-spares_W0QQitemZ280027131995QQihZ018QQcategoryZ104 48QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I posted it in the middle of the night the other day so I don't know if anybody saw it.

Yeah but everything else seems genuine, and its UK based so you could view it before hand if its real.

Well, if I had the money I 'd be bidding. Unfortunately, I don't. Anyway, if its UK based, you'd be collecting so if you turned up to collect and they weren't there, you'd just go away again wouldn't you?

looks dodge to me... a 999 for £3500?????!!!!!!! no way..... saying all that there might be a really nice bloke sat in his living room with his slippers on, scratching his balding head muttering 'why is no one interested in my bike??'..... unlikely but you never know ay????????

Very strange no bidders at all for the bike.

To be honest, i'd just bid but certainly not pay before at the least seeing the bike. Nothing to lose if ya don't pay anything until you're sure.

The 999S sold on 17/9 for £7100
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&item=280027027503&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Same bike me thinks, well the reg is the same with less miles on it now, same description! mmmm.. so why would the same bike appear a few days later with less miles on it for £3600 from a different seller to the one that bought it, very strange but as you say if you can see it in the flesh and its as it says! It was cheap at £7100, at £3500 its a steal! Italia at lincoln have a identical model at £10750!

bunny175 the man in the ad replys.
First let me say that the bike is available for £3500,the bike is in perfect
conditions ,no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage,no engine
problems, no hidden defects, the bike has not sustained any damage whatsoever. The
bike is still UK registered so you won't have to pay any custom taxes, the problem
is that I had to move with my family in Germany as my wife was promoted and we had
to move here where she got the new job transfer, also I must let you know that the
bike is here with me in Germany. I am a private seller not a dealer and I had (for
the moment) the privilege to buy this bike at a low cost from a bankrupt dealer and
we bought it along with others in order to make a showroom but since with my wife's
promotion we can't do that anymore, the price you will have to pay in order to own
this bike is £3500 with
shipping costs included! I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this
deal is 100% legitimate, the security part of this deal will be managed by
TripleDeal,in this way both of us will be protected. They will safeguard the
transaction from all and any angle, the delivery of the bike takes an average of 7
days depending on your location so if you are interested in purchasing the bike
provide me with your name and shipping address any you will receive exact
instruction from TripleDeal on how to complete the transaction safely. Add fun
gadgets and colorful themes to express yourself on Windows Live Spaces

Sounds like a bit of a scam seeing the bike has already sold on eBay as reported. Who are TripleDeal?
