Hi all
just came to go out to work and bike started 1st time.Great roads are dry and is gonna be great ride to work. But strange whirring noise so turn off ignition and starter still going like the clappers.
Only way to stop it is disconnect the battery.
Am thinking the solenoid is stuck but has anybody else had this?
Ta for your help
Cheers

Sounds like a stuck solenoid. Had the same problem with mine after a six week lay up over winter. A bit of gentle tapping sorted it out. No problems since.

Thanks for that Steve.
I shall gently tap it with 'Correction Tool 3a' when I get home.

If it is the solenoid replace it with a new one asap. Your starter motor will fry itself if it jams on and that's a lot more expensive and difficult to replace.

My M600 did this and indeed it was a stuck solenoid - and RAC man who lived down the road at the time nearly wet himself laughing as I panicked and didn't know what to do - he pulled the plug and then shouted "BANG" very loudly and I nearly died...

Gary's spot on the solonoids a hell of lot cheaper to replace than
the starter.
