So there we were (me and the missus), rained off for the Sussex/Surrey meet at Box Hill. What a shame, third month running. So we thought "what shall we do today?" After must procrastinating, the wife finally agreed to call her brother to see if they fancied a pub lunch.

Off we trotted to The Bull at Ditchling - a very nice period pub, with good food. Upon entering, we noticed that Jamie Theakston was at the bar. Not too unusual as he lives in the village. However, I pointed out that James Kirtley and Chris Adams (Sussex cricketers) were also there. At that point we were quite pleased with our celebrity spot for the day.

Lo and behold, Matt Dawson appeared, followed closely by Ian Wright! At which point Sarah's brother, a lifelong gooner, got a bit excited. It turned out that Theakston had organised a celebrity cricket match in the village. We went along and watched. Having no shame, even Alec Stewart managed to appear in our photos.

Damn you to hell  , many a time I tried to get Alec Stuart's autograph or picture at many Surrey and England matches and he was always grumpy as hell and I never got it.

Nevermind, maybe I'll start hanging around at your local, :chuckle:
