Hello to you all.

I'm in the process of buying my first Monster (S2R1000), when I saw the S4Rs and fell in love. Do people feel the S4Rs is worth the extra money and what OTR price did people pay?

IMO stick with the S2r1000. why would you want to pay the extra
for an uglier bike?

I agree that the aircooled Monsters are better looking than our watercooled Monstrosities, but it feels bloody good when all those extra horses kick in.

Brakes and suspension on the S4Rs are really top notch- its all a bit over the top really but excellent fun.

Difficult to get much of a deal- I did a complicated part exchange on mine and found it difficult to get much of a concession because it was a new model and the dealer profit margin is allegedly less than the 999.

Maybe by the autumn deals will start to appear as showroom models stop walking out of the door and begin to gather dust.

Taking a test ride sounds like a good idea.

OK...Here's my two penneth - take the test ride and take your time - the bikes are both different but all monsters put an unrepeatable grin on your face because they have such character.

Yes the rads can look a bit like central heating but ultimately get what you enjoy the most and whichever puts the biggest grin on your face!

Happy monstering whatever you choose to go for!

I feel it was worth it, but prices in Spain are always regulated by Ducati and that means the official price.

I know in the UK you´ll definately be able to negotiate the price somewhat.

Ride a 1000 and an S4RS and then make your choice. Both are good, the 1000 is probably the better road bike for everyday stuff but the S4RS is barking mad....

Sorry I say S2R10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000000.

Not that I am biased, if you do get onto Ducati Wolverhampton they have one in with 272 miles and over a grand less than new.. I have seen it and it looks as new...... Once it has been dusted. And its red with a white stripe.

So that would be a saving of nearly 4k..... Lifetime of services paid for...

I must say this a great site, with people who give honest advise and don't take the p***, even when you ask stupid questions.

To date I have ridden the S2R 800, which was good but I was concerned about the front break and therefore recommended to look at the 1000. I can't find anybody that will provide test rides on the S4Rs, can anyone recommend a dealer?

The brakes on the 800 are wooden, the ones on the 1000 are loads better, more power and feel.
The Brakes on the S4Rs? Just make sure your visor is down, so your eyeballs don't pop out!

Moto Rapido in Winchester have a demo S4RS - a lovely white one.

Ducati Coventry have a demo S4Rs and their service is outstanding both pre and post sales. Ask Chappers as she just got her S2R 800 from there.

I say go with the S4Rs. I have an S4 (the older version) and had a comparison test ride on an S2R 1000 during the Mallory trackday. I much preferred my older, more manic watercooled Monnie over the very smooth but slightly passive S2R 1000.
