Can inlet trumpets be fitted to the standard carbs on a 1999 Monster?

I just dug out a set of twin 45 weber carbs today and they had the same set up and looked great! (They are for sale if anyone is interested!)

I have been running my monster with no filter today and i wondered for protection if i could fit inlet trumpets and piperX sock filters!

Hi - my company are the largest distributor of Pipercross filters, so let me know if I can be any help. Do the 45's and the Monster carbs have the same layout to bolt the trumpets on?

Pete D,

I dont know about the trumpets, thats why i was asking for advice. I would love to slip on some pipercross socks, they sound great!!

Another thing!!

Would the filters require some sort of internal support to prevent collapse??

I can fax you an outline of the fitment of a Pipercross rampipe if that helps work out if it will fit (or at least can me modified to). Drop me an email to pete@perfco.co.uk if you like...

As for an internal support, all the socks are purely foam, but these should be fine on a Monster, as they won't suck enough air to pull the sock in.

Pete,

Are there different heights of sock or do i just have to cut them??

Hi Yorkie,

What does it run like with this sort of thing on, i'm guessing theres a load more induction growl but is there much difference in performance?? If you get round to fitting trumpets and socks any chance you can put a picture up so i can have a look see. The last time i saw something like this was on a mini years ago

Cheers,

Shandy

Apparently a company called Unifilter do filters with internal supports!

I must try and dig something out!

I would be very surprised if you had a problem with a filter collapsing on a Monster, it's not an issue we come across.

You can see the sock listing here: http://www.pipercross.net/competition_socks.asp

C1050 would really be your best bet - this is what you see in the photo, and it can be cut down to the required height.

Pete,

Can we buy direct from Perfco? or do you have stockists in the London area?

Cheers

Hi, yes we do supply to the public also. If you need anything, you can drop me an email to pete@perfco.co.uk or call us on 08450 603020. I'll certainly be able to sort out a deal for any UKMOC members.
