CMW in Chichester (01243 782544) had a selection of tanks in stock, including as I recall, a red carb version... might be worth giving them a call and seeing what price they will let them go for...?

No good for Dave's new project - it's a fuel injected 900

I've heard somewhere that some carb tanks may fit fuel injected bikes (without heavy modification). Is there any thruth in that?

I very much doubt it... the EFi bikes need a fuel pump (and filter) which is mounted inside the tank - in the metal tanks they are seperate items held in by clips (accessed through the wider filler aperture), in the plastic tanks a combined unit that bolts into the base of the tank.

They are also a different shape externally so the EFI seat won't fit the back of the tank, and early seat won't fit later EFI frame because the locking mechanism/latch pin are completely different. That's before you've sussed out how to rig up an external pump/filter for the EFI - just not worth the aggro TBH :banghead:
