Well several of us went, i think we all got wet but while parked in east kirkby it could not have been warmer or dryer. Most of what i have to say is summed up by CJ the buell meet organiser so I'll let him say it......

As stolen from www.ukbeg.com
A huge thank you to everyone who made it - respect is due! Almost everyone got a soaking at some stage in the day - sorry about that....

I honestly thought the day was going to be a complete disaster when we woke up on Saturday morning to the sound of thunder rattling the windows in our B&B. But I was to be proved wrong - bikes started arriving as soon as we got there and it never really stopped all day. I was amazed at the turnout considering the weather forecast. Total attendance was 235 people on 212 bikes, with 81 Buells and approx. 60 Ducati's. The UK Monster and Ducati Sporting Clubs did us proud. The event preview in MCN also worked a treat - many riders came because they'd see it advertised there and not on the internet.

We raised £400 for the Papworth Cystic Fibrosis unit that looked after Emma and a cheque will be sent to Sarah this week.
And thanks to Jane for greeting everyone with a cheery smile while demanding a fiver on the gate .

SO from me a big thanks too, it was great day and a bloomin' eventful one as Pudding-Head managed to snap a throttle cable or something on the way back so cam home the last 40 miles by van.

Spares Geezer, I hope it was worth you being there, I honestly think numbers would have doubled if the sun had been out all day.

I have some Ducati photo's in front of the Lanc but can't upload til tomorrow so Julie and co, please feel free to remind everyone what they missed. For now though here's a taster from the buell site.
Thanks all.

Dave,

Thanks for putting word round and keeping people up to date with the event in the first place. Got soaked on the way there, dried out and burnt to a crisp in the gloriously hot sunshine, then got soaked on the way back. What a brilliant day and without doubt, the best flying demo of any aircraft I've seen in a very long time. I think Major Day's flown a Spitfire before?!

What ho, chocks away for next years shindig!! :mand:

Aye, a grand day out. Even though my feet were sloshing around in water inside my boots, and we rode through the opening scene of Twister, and we were all down to slow speeds in torrential rain, it was good fun. Strange that, a good soaking on the way there and back but a perfect Summers day at East Kirkby eh?

Hope you all had a chance to look around the hangar and see how the place was during the war and all the things that happened there. A truly amazing and sometimes desperately sad place.

And a good amout raised too.

Nice to see the people I knew again and Squiffy, thanks for your company on the way home, hope you got back alright and hope to see you again soon.

Oh yes, Squiffy, glad you came along and hope you'll be part of 'team crumble' again soon. Where shall we go next time (please start new thread - Nonnie) :D

'Twas a splendid day, worth going just for the cafe alone! Shame about the torrential rain and lightning on the way down, it's not nice arriving at a meet with a mucky bike!

The spitfire display was so impressive and although I'm not particularly an aircraft afficionado, I found it strangely emotional to see such a magnificent and historical 'plane being flown so well. Fair brought a lump to my throat!

Lovely as always, to meet other monster owners, old & new! I will definitely be there next year!

What a great day with fantastic sights and sounds and the planes were good too!
Could not believe the rain on the way back though I think I needed a Duckati Monster at one stage! Still well worth the soaking

Oh shucks you guys you really know how to make a little bloke feel welcome.

As for the rain you lot all had waterproofs what about the poor sod who was told it was gonna be a glorious sunny day and didn't bother to bring any?!

Great day out the Lanc, even on half power, was just so special and sounded almost as good as the monsters.

Team Crumble rocks!

Sounds like you guys had a good day. Shame I couldn't be there (maybe next year).

And by the way, it's calippo, as in haribo. Don't listen to anything that Julie person says.

Depends now how you say Haribo???

I would say Ha Ri Bo, no focus on any particular syllable.

But I would put the accent on Li in Callippo. See my signature for further advice.

I'm standing right next to you Julie, figuratively speaking.

Maybe it's a regional accent thing. Or you're all wrong.
