Worth a go ,

Anyone got a S2R top yoke (for 43 mm forks). Believe maybe common across the monster range depending on fork size.

even better anyone got a nice set of Showa fully adjustable forks (43mm) if anyone has uprated their s2/s4r to higher spec forks and has old ones for sale?

And finally a Rear brake lever for S2 series suspect same as on S4R

All required for a good home, one poorly S2R1000 with sore front end..

More wishfull thinking :

Bad news about your bike. Take it you're OK?

If the yolk and break pedal are the same as the S4R I'll have those spares when my tripple calmps and rearsets arrive :D . Should be a couple of weeks. Give me shout if you're not sorted by then.

Pel,
As I said in the other thread, have a word with Rich at Luigi Moto's, if he has got what you need i will be shifting some stuff for him in the morning (Tues) down to Dorchester, then on to WSM to collect a dead bike in the afternoon. If he has any bits and bobs you need I could chuck them into the van and drop them off 2 you in the afternoon in WSM or later in the week when your back at Aztec.

You could also try Baines Racing at Silverstone for take-off parts and decent prices, or PM Marchesini (Simon) as he might have some S4R forks for sale (from his project bike with the radial front end)...

Spoke with Dunc last night, he reckons I was actually high sided...

Seen the racers do it, never wanted to attempt it myself.

Mr Ferret as i Would like to do all the work myself to help keep costs down.. I would be mighty tempted in the brake pedel and clamps, out of interest is this just the top one or are you changeing the whole lot?

Is anyone else able to confirm. I may even attempt a drive down te dealers today and compare the 2 models.

I am going to check with Louigi to see what he has local first and then go from there.

I can't go through insurance as have already had a total loss claim this year which was beyond econimical repair.

As I see it its my fault thus I fix it... And as a few have highlighted with sound advice I would be silly to go for dealer prices first.

I would like to say thanks for all the support and advice, I am more miffed about my bike and want to get it back to what it should be.

When the stuff arrives. Top and bottom yolks and handle bar clamp will be available along with the brake pedal.

Should be available in about three weeks. Stu at spareshack rekcons two weeks delivery for yolks (speedymoto USA - ordered end last week) and maybe sooner for rearsets (RCM Italy). I'm now looking at getting DM to fit 'em at the same time as they service the bike on 7th August.

Try JMo's suggestions if your keen to get back on the road in the mean time. From the pics I've seen of Marchesini's project bike it looks like he replaced the whole front end. Blacks also might be worth a try. A big bike breakers, in the midlands if I remember rightly.

After speaking with some friends and the concerns of one who has looked at the front end and highlighted there may be more damage than what I think plus the bike is only neigh on 4 months old. I have taken the bike for a assessment.

Waiting on the call, but suspect yokes, front wheel, front fairing, rear seat cowl, clutch cover, front brake may be showing signs of warped disc or even buckled front wheel, possible handle bars, left hand fork is def buggered, right hand fork is tarmmacked along bottom.

As someone said to me, I paid fully comp why do I pay it ?

Yes I could start doing the repairs myself but for the age of the bike am I going to get it looking as it should. So I think depending fully on the accessment which to be honest will have most of ther above showing I am going to bite the bullet and put it through, I have already lost a big chunk of NCB and will loose all of it with this claim but what will be the cheaper option.

So thanks for all the offers, I sorry to messed anyone around, I was hoping it was a simple unbolt and get on with it job but as someone said, I could spend £600 just to get it on the road and then find the frame is bent and have basically lost it all.

Will let you know how it goes....

Sorry to hear about your bike Pel.
I am pleased you are relatively OK and hope you get the bike sorted soon.

Probably the best decision.
If you work out what you'd save in NCB over a few years, it's no where near what it would cost to put the bike back to mint.
Let me know if there's anything I can do

SJR i know that was a comment a mate made last night when he looked at it.
Just had a call from the dealers and the list is endless...

I have passed onto insurers to deal with and suspect that if it is written off (Equity Red Star work on a 2/3rds value) i will end up bikeless. ERS don't normally work on a new for old even if bike is only 4 months old, so the market value for a 4 month old S2R1000 with 4k on clock will be ****..

Weighing all the other options ie if I did the repairs which wouldn't be back to the as new condition it was in then the warranty would be buggered anyway.

I think the words yer dammed if you do and yer dammed if you don't, After 18years of riding I have had a very unlucky 2 months......

Don't give up yet - 2/3 value is a lot of money on an 06 bike. I haven't seen a 2nd hand one yet, 05 models are still worth £5500 at least.
If the frame / engine are not damaged, you may find they will repair it.

I hope so, it wasn't the bikes fault... I really don't want to see it written off its only a baby..

Just have to wait and see what happens.

Ta for the good words...

Hang on in there Pel. There's nothing set in stone to say they will only give 2/3 value. They have to give you a fair price, enough to replace the bike with something of similar age and condition, and not just some book figure. If what they offer is too low then tell them to go find a similar bike for that money. And make sure you get things like your cans back or any other bling you fitted. Try to get it put back to stock before the assesor comes out. You don't want them refusing to pay because it's been modified witohut their knowledge. They only need the slightest reason to not pay out. And if they scrap it with your mods fitted then you've lost them for good.
And at the risk of sounding like a circling vulture, if you do decide to keep it and break it, can I have the front discs and brakes please?
And finally, stay off Cor's bike. These things come in three's. Get yourself a push bike and ride that until you bend it. Then you've broken the curse.
Good luck with it.

Equity Red Star are very difficult to deal with, it was they who gave me problems a few years ago. I was very close to going legal against them, Carole Nash and my Visa card company. If the Carole Nash directors hadnt stepped in and sorted it out then I would have seen them in court.

Lets hope its repairable, thats a straightforward job and you dont get the **** I encountered.

Make sure you keep hold of the bike until they make a suitable offer and dont be surprised if they write it off for 3 grands or more of damage. They can get a good price for a 4 month old category C or D write off which combined with making you a low offer makes write off most economical..

You may also find that after making you an offer thats crap they wont even consider negotiating round that price even if you have a mountain of evidence (Parkers, MCN, dealer ads etc) to show that their offer is unrealistic. Its the unfortunate thing with Equity Red Star and I make sure my insurance is not underwritten by them.
