Having seen what they are doing for the new CBT from 2008, it will be very much like that anyway!
Riders will have to reach a speed of 31 mph and swerve round a cone, before immediately braking to simulate an emergency stop.
I hope bike schools have lots of spare clutch and brake levers for their hire bikes cos I imagine there are going to be a fair few drops!
Impressive! It made me feel sea sick watching it.

It is a while ago now but I seem to remember doing pretty much everything bar the swerve move when I did my CBT and test. Can help but think if it improves handling skills in emergencies it's a good thing.

What started as a fun thread has made me think......
In my past life...I'm 47 now, I used to instruct and examine for my local RAC/ACU and then BMF affliated bike training scheme....did 15yrs so think I have an understanding of the politics in bike training.....
CBT as a concept is an excellent idea and I fully support it....but.....
The training should be basic, hence it's name and purpose, and it shouldn't become an advanced course in any shape or form. Gone are the days when you could buy a bike without any training at all and ride away from the greedy dealers who washed their hands once they had your loot, which is good.
I don't agree with much of the nanny state directives on biking from politicians both UK and the EU who are content in destroying our desire to ride bikes for enjoyment, transport and leisure.
What an old fart I am - apologies for kicking off.....but just thought....how will the 31mph swerve test work then?? Thought 50cc mopeds were restricted to 30mph, especially for the 16yr olds....yes..some young lads still want to ride a bike at 16....my eldest, now 18 did, and my 12yr old has the desire also?
Also, many of the centres do not have the ability to have bikes flying around at 31mph....What come back will those taking this modified CBT test who fall off? Falling off at 31mph is going to hurt! Seems to me another ill thought out requirement!
I wonder why I don't instruct anymore? All my work was voluntary and I had a hoot for 15yrs helping bring on the next generations of bikers......shame the government and EU are trying to destroy it!
Disillusioned, but still biking,

How about laying out something like that for the next track day?
Looks like a rght hoot and would suit monsters to a tee!

The new swerve and stop test at 31 mph will only be for 125s (I don't know how the 50cc test will differ - although at the moment if you are 16 you can do a test on a 50 cc bike and then ride a 125 at 17, without another test) and most bike schools will have to find a larger off road area, or go out of business.
