Why don't you all do a road trip up to bonnie Scotland? We can give you great roads, free accomodation and free booze...just have to bring yourselves, and maybe some good weather ;)

Nice offer Eonan. Cheers. Never been to Scotland. It's got mountains! When I were up Norf at t'weekend, I saw my first hills for months! I need to get out more.
Will bear your offer in mind, I do fancy an epic journey.
Same return invite for you too. Plenty of alcohol...oohh yyeess..I'll put you up at Chez Nonnies and show you the open road, it's very open!
Neil, you missed a goodun at the weekend. Not free this weekend but will be the one after. Come over and see us if you want a free drink/lunch/etc etc

Nonnie
19-06-2006, 09:18 PM
You're welcome whenever. We'll be home this weekend and out on bikes next weekend!

Juan is good, needs a clean. Rod has his new exhausts. We were out in the garage at half ten Friday night removing the baffles. Hehe.

19-06-2006, 09:21 PM

eonan
19-06-2006, 09:50 PM
Nonnie thanks for the kind offer...I'd like to take you up on that one day. I lived in Ipswich for a while, and really loved it down there. Although I wasn't riding bikes at the time, always thought it would be a great place to have one.

As for the invitation to come up here...it's always open to you all

Nonnie
20-06-2006, 07:06 AM
Ah Eonan, Ipswich, my old stomping ground. That's where I learned to ride. Lots of countryside and nice roads.

Now I'm in Norfolk, I haven't filtered for ages as there isn't enough traffic so I'm a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to more than about 10 cars these days!

Neil, will post up some piccies. Due to lack of Zard exhausts for the S4rs, he plumped for Termis. I am afraid to know the cost. I don't need to know the cost.

neilbaldry
20-06-2006, 11:25 AM
lol that would be the cost that no one dares speaketh! lol i can only wonder about the cost, i darent say it tho!

i might pop round sometime over the weekend to say hi if thats ok? havent seen you two for ages!

Nonnie

:mand: :mand: There is the epic Kent donut run on Saturday 1st July - to Brighton - which is I understand rather a long way off from you folks but it would be fun....

And oh yes to Scotland - I love it up there and would move back in a trice (I do so love that word!!!)

Ride safe although I think most of Narfuk will probably hear Rod coming a mile off so shouldbe fairly safe!!!:mand: :mand:

eonan
20-06-2006, 08:22 PM
It's funny, my love for the Monster began when I lived in London...long time ago now. I never did anything about it at the time, but reading things like donut runs to Brighton makes me wish I was still there.

But then I remember how I went completely insane living there...so perhaps not. For now anyway ;)

Where abouts did you stay in Scotland?

neilbaldry
20-06-2006, 09:34 PM
lol Nonnie, do you think, with Rod having a new exhaust, he has a need for that carbon heat guard from the standard cans? or could he be tempted to part company with it for a fee?

benson
21-06-2006, 07:00 AM
Eonan - many years ago I went to St Andrews University and fell in love with the place - in fact the whole of the east coast which is still one of the most special places in my heart despite having travelled all over the place and lived in a fair few far flung locations.:mand:

A very dear friend's parents still stay by Kinross and another in Carnousite. One of my bestest pals is now in Inverness (about 8 years now I think). I stayed in Edinburgh for a while after I graduated before coming back down sarf to Cambridge and then London where I've been now for about 15 years, all over the place really...

Have very lovely memories of Scotland and return whenever I can - we recently stayed in Edinburgh for a lovely long weekend and some of the best biking roads are there to too!!! HOPEFULLY planning a little jaunt up in the summer - anyone want to come too??? I know this road see!!!

eonan
21-06-2006, 07:45 AM
Well now, I live smack bang in between Kinross and Carnoustie...and a wee trip up to Inverness would be very nice indeed

Nonnie
21-06-2006, 08:57 AM
Benson me old drinking/riding buddy........I feel a wee trip right up North coming on! Can ye ride in a kilt I wonder? I'm not sure it's adviseable but I reckon it would be funny. Rod's got his own tartan ye know. Can we go see his castle? It's on the shores of Loch Ness, can we go see the monster?! Yay! Can we? Can we?

Blimey, from Neil looking for a local ride out, we've managed to blag our way up to Scotland!

eonan
21-06-2006, 09:05 AM
Of course you can ride in a kilt...it's very refreshing don't you know

His own castle heh? Well it would be just downright rude not to stop off for tea and cake with the rellies wouldn't it

Nonnie
21-06-2006, 09:12 AM
I don't think anyones at home these days.

Or they're letting things slip a bit.

benson
21-06-2006, 02:31 PM
Urquhart castle is beautiful as is the loch itself - grand ride and I know a good place to stay too!!!

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 06:11 PM
the castle looks very open paln, but i hear its all the rage!

Nonnie, might have a newcomer to the norfolk crowd. Markus (here on the forums) wants to come for a ride out, and i think a trip to the north norfolk coast could be a plan? sunny hunny for chips and dips?! maybe the 2nd july? or the weekend after?

Nonnie
21-06-2006, 06:15 PM
2nd July sounding good so far, can't make the weekend after that and the weekend after that I will be in Sunny Hunny anyway, living it up large like, drinking myself into a wreck, dancing with Benson and probably only looking at the bike once!

Hi Markus, would be good to see you. OK, let's do something the 2nd then!

benson
21-06-2006, 06:45 PM
Hmmm - the emphasis should be on looking at the bike I believe rather than riding it - the weekend in Sunny Hunny I mean - as I remember we weren't up to much last year at our somewhat less classy outing to the caravan site!!! I'm really serious about the heading up to Scotland malarkey though - a real trip oop norf would be great fun methnks - I did this about 4 years ago now and I stayed in some fantastic places - a friend of mine writes the internet guide to soctland and she's off in the wwestern highlands at the momnet - I'll get onto her for some advice!!

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 06:59 PM
it would be a good idea, we could collect other monsterers on the way up! by the time we get there, it'll be a right horde!

eonan
21-06-2006, 07:18 PM
The 'Loch Ness Monster' run it is then

benson
21-06-2006, 07:21 PM
Oh yes indeed - how cool would that be??? I think we should think about dates - annual leave and holidays and everything else that happens over the summer - how are we fixed??? Should we open it to the respectoive regions or maybe even make it a National Event? (OK so there might only bo five of us...)
Anyway - I'm up for it!!!:yoparty: :yoparty: :yoparty:

eonan
21-06-2006, 07:32 PM
Oh everyone :mand: There's quite a few Monsters on the Ducati Up North forum, so as Neil says it would be fantastic to plan a route and pick people up along the way.

For some it could be a fair old trek...maybe we could turn it into a money raising charity run?

I finish a contract next week and plan to take the summer off...so anytime is fine with me :mand:

It would be good to have a base so that people could come and go as they wanted for a few days given that for some of us it would be serious miles to get north of the border - I for one really don't do camping (on the basis that it's morally wrong) so I would like to find a nice little place to stay that was self catering - for those brave souls who can understand the dark arts of canvas then I'm sure there is no shortage of fine pitches to be had...I will be searching for a place though forthwith!!! (great word that - forthwith - I'll type it again!!!!!)

benson
21-06-2006, 08:21 PM
We should call it the Monster-Ness Run...

I'm happy to do anything really so long as it fits in with time off!!!

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 08:23 PM
i am good either way, but i can appreciate (being a soft RAF type) a warm bed! im sure there must be lots of travel lodges and the like?

i have a feeling this might take a while to save up for tho! all that petrol money!

eonan
21-06-2006, 08:24 PM

Now Neil, I wasn't sitting here thinking up those names :banghead:...just a copy and paste I'm afraid. Even better was the South Park episode where the loch ness monster was hassling people to lend him (her?) $3.50 :mand:

eonan
21-06-2006, 08:26 PM
Aye...an b*llocks to the dark arts of the canvas! Canvas is a dark material indeed

benson
21-06-2006, 08:26 PM
South Park - real class - great show....I love it - still!!

ANYWAY - yes I am a wimp, I want a real bed

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 08:27 PM
lol never saw that south park episode.

how about this for a base?

'The <insert word here>-ness Monsters'

benson
21-06-2006, 08:32 PM
Like it - Scotland here we come!!!!! See what a hijacked thread can come to???:mand: :mand: :mand:

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 08:35 PM
lol i think all of us have a slightly eccentric streak, because threads can go off in every direction! i love it!

when are we looking at doing this then? september could be good?

isnt PD good with designs and stuff? maybe get teeshirts made up?!

eonan
21-06-2006, 08:36 PM

'The <insert word here>-ness Monsters'

Heh heh...love it  Should have some real fun with that :mand:

benson
21-06-2006, 08:38 PM
PD is indeed a clever sod...And yes - maybe September? Want to go before the nights start to draw in too much...

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 08:39 PM
hows about

The UK MOC-ness Monsters lol

benson
21-06-2006, 08:46 PM
Well done that man! I like it - a LOT!!!!!

UKMOC-Ness....
I can see the desings already - nessie and the ducati shield/logo/bike - where is PD when you need him???????????????????:mand:

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 08:49 PM
best i get that soft luggage for my bike, ahead of carbon bits! lol i'll need the space methinks!

thinking about routes going north. it would be best to have one 'prong' going up the west country, you know, up via manchester, and that side. then the other 'prong' going up the east, like via lincoln, the skeggy, and newcastle. then we could all meet at the border somewhere, and all pootle up into scotland as a 1er.......... or am i being stoopid?

benson
21-06-2006, 08:51 PM
Oh yes indeed - for your kilt no doubt - it's a must have accessory!!!!!

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 08:53 PM
a kilt eh?! maybe i will go all 'bay city rollers' and settle for tartan trousers! you think i could get knee sliders on a pair?! lol

oh and on the name development......... The MOC-Ness tour 2006!

benson
21-06-2006, 08:54 PM
he he he - saw some tartan sliders the other day - and youcan get the saltire ones too like you can the St George flags...Meanwhile like the Moc-Ness tour - and even if it's just the three of us we'll do it!!!!

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 09:02 PM
it will be the best damn tour everer! even if its just us 3! im sure i could try and persuade markus to go north, rather than go south into france! and then theres Rob with his new S4RS in Newc! i bet he'd be game for a laugh!

and i really need to start taking some time off! not had a days holiday since the start of april! and i have 45 days to get in this financial year (not including public holidays)!

neilbaldry
21-06-2006, 09:06 PM
Nonnie, just realised, the 2nd of July is the Donny round of the MotoGP! so we could do a bit of riding, then find a pub that would show it on the telly!?

plan?

Nonnie
21-06-2006, 09:09 PM
Chuffin hell, I log off for 2 hours and come back and look!!!

Seriously though, how long will it take us to get there? I'm thinking a stop over en route and on the way back and we'd need at least a day and night with no riding so it's a 4 day eventer yes?

September is not good for me. The latter part of July/early August would be about the only time I can get 4 straight days.

Nonnie
21-06-2006, 09:10 PM
Nonnie, just realised, the 2nd of July is the Donny round of the MotoGP! so we could do a bit of riding, then find a pub that would show it on the telly!?

eeerrr.... you can watch it and I'll carry on riding! But, I'd be up for the riding bit.

benson
21-06-2006, 09:53 PM
OK then - what about heading maybe up to North Berwick way as a bit of a hlaf way house - that's oarf of Edinburgh and there are somebeautiful places and good raods - if peeps want to go further (Inverness i have done in one days ride but it is a long long way and that was on the firebblade many mooons ago!) then they can!

I can't go anywhere until at least mid August - we need to think smoe more methinks!

neilbaldry
22-06-2006, 05:35 PM
are we to start a more mainstream thread to gauge interest for this?

benson
22-06-2006, 05:42 PM
Reckon so Neil - no doubt it might ust be us though!!!:mand:

neilbaldry
22-06-2006, 05:58 PM
well, if its just us, then we will make it awesome! just gotta decide on dates really!

neilbaldry
26-06-2006, 05:23 PM
so, back to the reason for this thread......... sunday? if weather is acceptable.......... a day oot on tha beeks leek?

Nonnie
26-06-2006, 05:38 PM
Yep, although it'll be a midday or after thing. Got a party on the Saturday night you see. I'll check work schedules and get back.

benson
26-06-2006, 05:39 PM

Nonnie
26-06-2006, 05:44 PM

benson

Nonnie
26-06-2006, 05:53 PM
OK Rach, could do Orford or somewhere? Miss the Rendlesham forest somewhat. Remember the Rendlesham Triangle? You'll never see the same road twice!

There's Snape Maltings, I think you've been there before?

Let's cross the border into Suffolk.

Neil, you fancy that?

neilbaldry
26-06-2006, 05:54 PM

Nonnie
