i have a minute oil leak coming from the clutch housing. Before taking out the clutch what can i most likely be expecting?
A slave cylinder leak, or a main bearing seal going, or something else?

Someone may correct me here, but having taken the clutch out, and the left hand side engine casing last year, i noticed that there is a hole for the engine oil to flow onto the clutch push rod. Just behind the slave cylinder, the engine case is cut in such a way that oil can get to the rod.

So that leak of yours may be absolutely normal.
But dont take my word for it.

I thought the 900's had dry clutches?

The push rod has a couple of o rings on it to stop oil passing through to the clutch - wip the slave cylinder off and pill the rod out. New o rings are about 14p each I think....

Or (and you may not like this..)

The main seal in the case may be weeping. Clutch out (special tool need to hold it while undoing the nut) and side case off and replace the seal.

Thanks stef and pedro, neither of your suggestions mean too much grief, ..if i can get the tool.
Bodybag, the 900 clutch is dry, the leak is thru the back somewhere, ..its just enough to have made a spotty mess on those great shoes of yours!

Yes, thats' right, but the rod seemingly isnt.
Your problem doesn sound too bad if the leak is on the cylinder side.
