Hello UKMOC people!

Following on from this thread about side panels (http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=15097) I thought a poll would help. The question, does it look better with or without side panels?

Please let me know what you think, cheers:mand:

(please ignore the fact the bike needs a good clean! Come to think of it, can anyone recommend some decent cleaning products to get that nice 'Dark' finish?)

(original piccies disappeared for some reason)

Its wasnt untill I that picture from eonan I realised how stupid the tea tray looks! I need to move my tail chop plans forward a bit. (I may even get round to sorting that minging exhaust)

I didn't realise how neat it looks without the side panels. I'm going to take mine off now too, I think. I'll see how it looks but I really like the look.

Its easy on the left hand side ecause there is not much behind the cover, but behind the right panel is a lump of spaghetti which will need some work.

Never even contemplated not having side panels & quite like the look without, but having forked out for some fancy CF a couple of months back, (a whole 30 quid from ebay!) I think I'll be leaving mine on.

Hope I'm not gonna stir up the eternal debate, but... chop it off!! They're rediculous!

or ridiculous;)

if you are a summer only rider that is............

but if you ride all year round, then it has a good use - it stops the water from spinning off the back wheel & fishtailing it over you, but the FWB's will never experience that..........

and, as Lady Bob will tell you, its usefull for drinks & food etc :D

Ah yes, that old "my back will get wet..." chesnut...

If you ride in the rain a wet back will just match your wet front, head, hands feet etc.

And at least your bike will look better once you stop x

Hey C - the reply was to the thread, promped by your suggestion that's all...

I was simply pointing out that the issue of getting a wet back is really academic if you ride in the rain...

I rode all the way to the BMF and back this year (and was the only fekker in the Best in Show tent who did) and yes, I got utterly soaked...

At the end of the cliche - bad weather, fags, mugs of tea or even resale values don't matter a jot - it's whether you prefer the look of your bike with or without a chop... look at all the Buells and Speed Triples out there too...

Of course its good to point out all the pros and cons, but a little unfair to dismiss people as 'fair weather bikers' like that's some sort of crime - saves a fortune in autosol x

Well Jen and I rode back from north wales on Tuesday in the poring rain and by the time we arrived at my house we were both as wet as each other. So i really dont think it makes much difference. Rain gets you wet if you are on a bike.

Exactly that, there will allways be those that do and those that don't depends what you like the look of.

Anyway getting back to side panels, after looking at the photo's ill be removing mine at some point too :mand: as long as its not hiding some horror behind it!

Cheers,

Shandy

Haven't had side panels on mine for ages. Thought I was the only one who'd noticed how good it looks without them. Get to see more of that classic frame.
