View Full Version : Anyone For Paintballing??

Ok Kent Lot...... Anyone up for a paintballing day one Saturday in September?

A place just off the A21 near the Blue Boys pub is doing a good offer but I need some suggestions of who would be willing to go and what sort of dates are available to people.

For those who want to just spectate and take some piccies I have asked about safe areas and there are some. Not sure what the charge would be to spectate but I'll try and get it as cheap as possible.

To those wishing to paintball it is £20 for the day including combats, safety gear, paint gun and gas for the gun, soft drinks and BBQ lunch. Which I think is a good price, but I am in the process of getting discount on this £20 fee so watch this space.

I'm also trying to wangle the first 100 paint pellets free. But I know that 500 pellets are £25 if bought at the beginning of the day £30 if bought during the day.

Depending on how many of us go we may be able to get a significant discount. If there aren't many, we can still do it, but we will be in with a group of others that don't have many.

Mind you.... if we have a LOT of us going, we could take over the whole place!

This offer is initially open to Kent Members first, with any places left being offered out to remaining UKMOCers

SO........

What say you ladies and gentlemen?

I just need to get an idea of numbers and dates at this stage to aid me in my dealing for a discount!:mand:

LadyBoB,

I'm up for any saturday in September except the 9th, as I'll be at the NABD Autumn rally at Oxford that weekend.

Try to beat them down on the paint cost, or maybe negotiate a bulk purchase at the start of the day for all. £25 per 100 = 5p a ball and that's a big mark-up to be honest. I've played regularly as a walk-on (using your own kit) and buy paint in bulk. It works out at £40-50 a box (2000) or 2-2.5p a ball, and the supplier still makes a nice profit at that price too! While I'm not expecting this site to match that it would be nice to lever the price down a bit.

http://www.paintballmadness.co.uk/paintballs.cfm

Most sites use good semi auto markers these days, with a surprisingly high rate of fire at full chat. Even a pretty basic semi can spit pellets at 6+ shots a second (top level guns can now shoot 10-15 bps) so it's easy to get carried away a end up with a hoooge paint bill

Can you post up more details of the site - or maybe a link to the website so I can have a butchers?

Yeah, what gary says.

Later in September is good for me as I believe I'll be in Ireland at the end of August/beginning of September.

Gully,

I have spoken to the paintballing guys and reminded them that you are a Coeliac.

Unfortunately they are not well-versed in allergies and their reply was " He's wot?"

I have asked them to ensure an area to cook your food on without cross-contamination and I will bring the food for them to cook on the day.

The leaflet says.....

Directions to the Action Paintball Tunbridge Wells Site :

Get off the M25 at Junction 5, take the A21 from Tonbridge to Pembury. Go straight over the 1st roundabout, then onto the dual carriageway.

At the next roundabout 'Kippins Cross', take the 3rd exit (Dundale Road -Signposted Frant Station 4 Miles), go on about a mile further until you see a house on the left with an old red telephone box.

50 yards after that on the left are some double gates, pull in there.

PLEASE BE THERE BY 09.00hrs THE LATEST for the safety, team allocation, scenario discussion and pep talk from Lady-Bob

Just in case you fancy riding in, the guy there, Sean, says that there is a "hardstanding" car park (whatever that means!) I guess it's a bit like the Oakdene carpark?

Albie - I have put Caroline down as an observer - will she want to come along to watch do you think? Please let me know.

I'll be taking a camera so let's see some action out there!!

Anyone wanting to look at their website, please do so at http://www.actionpaintball.co.uk/contact-us.html

Hi Bob is it ok if new bird (or not so new now) comes to watch or lend a hand if needed....

I'll see what I can do.

I've already put up observers from 1 to 3 people and they are willing to feed us as well. Now that everything is confirmed I'm not sure how happy they'll be to feed 4 observers.... but let me give them a call and try.

Just don't want to get your hopes up to find they won't allow it... not sure also how large the "safe areas" are to fit us all.

Is it ok if we all call "new bird" Jackie now that we've met her a couple of times... or do you have trouble remembering her name??!!

Duck Vs. Goose (to be read with a banjo playing hick country music faintly in the background!)

When the duck climbed into a 1972 Ford F-100 truck, adjusted his beaded headrest, put it in drive and sped off in to the dusk and the wake of dust and gravel spread out behind him, he could see that goose and knew what he had to do.

Over by the elm, the film crew was in place, the lighting set -- the goose knew only what the note read: come alone to the dark elm tree. The lights from the film crew helped him read the last 7 pages of a screenplay he had been working on entitled, Polemical Debates at the Conservancy, which seemed to be quite the turn of luck for him.

Upon rounding the corner, duck seemed a bit unnerved at the sight of the film crew, but his keen plan had been set into motion -- and the rented truck had to be returned by 10am the next morning.

So, with the director setting his lens upon his unknowing subject, a small Argiope, he had no idea what he what he was about to be caught up in. Certainly duck had not accounted for the filming of a nature documentary at the local elm. But as he barreled past in his F-100 truck, knocking over camera crew and director alike -- scaring the fragile Argiope back into his silken home, goose suddenly realized he had sent the box of exploding cigars to the wrong person... it was a good thing that duck couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.

Yep a great time had. Had an early start as got up at 04:00 as couldnt sleep. Gathered my ill partner Caroline into the car for support bless her.Picked up a couple of reporobates named Bob and Gully and headed down to to Action Paintball.Nearly got caught in a jam with a nasty lorry accident on A21.
Very nervous when signing in as not sure what to expect but after the talk through thought it would be fine.
First game and only got 2 shots and got hit right on the old John Thomas. Yipes Im out and got a further 2 more hits on the way out. Next game I got clipped on the head so went out and marshall sent me back as it didnt explode but later the bump came out. Jeezuz :twak: Did ok from there on and unfortunately defending our little hut door from attack from rear I shot one of our men running across and it was Critch's son private Ryan. Shot him on the hand from about 4 ft. Thought he was enemy rushing our post . Sorry fella ;) :D
Maybe it was him that shot me from behind on the last game.

Thoroughly enjoyed today and yes deffo do again. Thanks all that turned up for this and to Bob who planned it. Those that didnt or couldnt missed a lot of fun. Bruises about 6. 2 head 1 hand 1 privates 1 right arm 1 right thigh.Oh and aching ankles.

Thanks for coffee on way back home to mrs Gully Debbie and Megan.

Till the next one.

Cheers Bob for organising the whole thing, didn't realise quite how many people would be there - and some fanatics too! Was a bit like playing Cowboys and Indians or War in the school playground - "You're not taking your shots etc."

To one and all, sorry I was AWOL. Had and awful saturday. Woke up at 6am to get there on time only to start out and a thunder and lightning storm breaks out as if god and the seven devils are chasing me. I may feel tough but a 150 mile trip one way in that weather, without wet gear, was pushing it. Got back home [I wasn't at my own home when I left in the morning] and by then, trully could not forsee a 100 mile journey to add to the previous.

Finally, I realised I didn't even have a means of informing anyone that I could not make it until I got to work today so officialy: I can't make the paintball on two days ago.

Hope it was a blast.

Nope I was fine afterwards (and the following day too) put it all down to my psychopathic approach to self-abuse (not that kind Bob) down the gym. :running:

It was a full on day though and I slept like a log that night,a great laugh despite the rather lack-lustre lunch arrangements. If I'd known I'd have brought extra sarnies!!

Paintballing itself was brilliant though, relatively well organised and marshalled (even if it was by kids!). Nice choice of games - from the manicness of Speedball to the ones I preferred the goal orientated ones. Miles and I had our fields of fire worked out and we were a dynamite team for the tank attack one anyway.

What was ok but needed improvement A lot of us had gun problems especially in the afternoon - mainly running out of gas. I pointed out that mine was low to a marshall at the end of one game who said "nothing wrong with that" 100 shots later I ran out mid game  All guns should have had new gas bottles fitted at lunch.

What was bad can't think of anything

What was missing no refreshments to purchase on site - a few mars bars and cans of drink would be nice.

Equipment

What was good paint quality was excellent - no bursts in gun all day. However 6p a ball is too expensive

What was ok but needed improvement Guns - reliability

What was bad Some of the kit was worn out & filthy

What was missing nothing much

Marshalling

What was good good attitude despite being run ragged all day

What was ok but needed improvement better enforcement on goggles rule

What was bad Not enough marshalls (hence blatent cheating by red team) 6 marhalls to 100+ punters isn't enough

What was missing about 4 more marshalls - having marshalled games a fair bit in the past a ratio of 10:1 is about right

Overall organisation of Action Paintball

What was good Good turnround on games - not much down time

What was ok but needed improvement Distribution of kit at start a bit slow & chaotic due to numbers

What was missing Lunch - wot lunch?

P.S. I haven't posted up a question about lunch. I know how bad it was and is def. being a priority for next time!

Can't believe I missed this one, as I love paintball... however Airsoft is the way forward.. Realistic guns in looks and actions (they are replicas after all) just shorter range than the real thing and doesn't hurt as much! Site fees are roughly£20- £35 including gun hire and ammo is about £10 for 3000 bbs! Of course, as there is no paint splat, there is a great reliance in honesty, which is usually rigorously upheld, but it also hurts less, and they are waaay more accurate and FULL AUTO!! Airsoft games pretty much run on individuals turning up not having to organise 2 teams of 20 yourself. Whilst some do the full Milsim (Military Simulation) games that can last a whole weekend, some do paintball style short missions.

Why wait til next year....?

What a supurb time. Me and Private Ryan (although wounded) thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Thanks to Lady Bob and the rest of the platoon for a great day.
Perhaps this could be something to do during the National (just an idea)
Count us in for the next one

Following on from Paintball, I recently organised a laser gun session for Ryan's birthday. This was in Sidcup, and is called Laser Warfare (they have a web site). It cost £30 for approximately 3 hours, but there was no lunch, although there were no extras. Guns more realistic, and proper sights with red dot rangefinder, they have a range of approx 100m. Not as messy or painful, but more tactical. Maybe something a bit different.

Winter weather is on the way and it's not a good time to play paintball. The sites get knee deep in mud, and rental guns which use CO2 don't run well in cold conditions because they freeze down on rapid fire.

I play a few games over winter - but all my guns have been converted to run on compressed air. We refill 3000psi tanks on the guns from Scuba tanks, and they run fine in sub zero temperatures. It's just me (old git) that struggles with the cold these days ;)

Nice!

And now for mine which work all year around and are all tuned to max UK site limits:

1st HK G3/SG1 long range sniper with full auto.. Mine is tuned for accuracy at range.

2nd is a pair of Glock 18c (that the full auto ones, one in each hand by the way and I can actually use them effectively like this..)

3rd is an ultra rare little beauty. The virtually silent supressed Ruger Mk1..

Yo wally!... If you had read the thread properly... this was a Non-biking event.

Most of us came by car save for NTB and Milesb

The weather was fantastic. The rain came as they broke for lunch but on each scenario it wsas beautiful sunshine.

(and WHO'S house were YOU in on Friday night then eh? eh? )

Car? What is that? I haven't owned a car in 10 years and with regards to the second, a Gentleman never tells. ;-)

Did any of the pictures come out - if so any chance of getting a few posted up here?

Left my camera at home for obvious reasons.

Just wanna thank Albie again for the prompt delivery of my keys - I can get into the garage again (without having to get my neighbour to lend me his set)!!

No problem mate, course I will.

Quite fancy the idea of that Airsoft thing you were mentioning - there's even a site here in Dover so I may go along and have a gander sometime. Was talking about it the other day at paintball - it sounds very reasonably priced in comparison to the paintballing.

What was bad Not enough seating
What was missing More shelter from rain

Equipment

What was good One piece overalls
What was ok but needed improvement Kit and goggles - as sometimes I could not see a thing
What was bad Guns, I had to have five in one day
What was missing Nothing as far as I can recall

Marshalling

What was good I thought marshalling was good
What was ok but needed improvement More marshalls
What was bad All marshalls were very young and no-one listened to them
What was missing More management of marshalls

Overall organisation of Action Paintball

What was good Thought organisation was very good
What was ok but needed improvement Ditto
What was bad Stricter rules on people being shot, when you are out you should be out
What was missing Choice of refreshments

In general though had a fanstastic day and I am definately up for it next year. A few tweeks needed here and there but overall good value for money.

See you all when I come back from holiday.

Got your camel for you, Gary.

Does anyone want one as I have another 49 to clear? Debs fetched a very good price ;)

If you think my little 600 is slow, just wait until I turn up down the cafe on my camel.

Hope you are well and see you soon

Hi Matey
I like the look of that 748, sir. Do you ride it hard, sir?

Well what can i say, holiday was absolutely fab with lovely hotel, lovely food and great weather - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and Megan lived in the swimming pool all week and now wants one in our back garden.

Had a nightmare getting home though last night. Had hefty delays at Hurghada airport and then one of our pilots was not qualified to land in the fog at Gatwick:scratch: How frightening was that :toilet: . We ended up at Stanstead (where it was still foggy ) and then they laid on buses to take us back to Gatwick so ended up crawling in this morning at around 4.00am. That will teach us to travel on Friday 13th.

Got 50 camels for Debs - there are 48 left if you want one :chuckle:
Hope is all well with you but by the photo it looks like you are very happy, sir
See you soon
