Hi Folks
does anybody know what weight fork oil should be in the adjustable forks on my 900ieS as it has not been changed since I got the bike new in 2001 and apparently it should have been.

Many thanks

I thought they all took SAE 7.5
Should get changed every two years!

sae 7.5 is standard but some suspension tuners recommend sae 5, which co-incidentally is probably what you've got after 5 years of hammering up and down through small holes!

As a slight side issue, the Hyperpro spring set I have came with 2.5 weight oil - supposed to make the fork action quicker and more supple

Hi Folks
Slight problem with 7.5 weight oil, none of the local bike shops have it but I have been told if I mix equal quantities of 5 and 10 weight oil together I will end up with 7.5 weight, seems possible but could do with some confirmation before trying it.

Hi Ian

mixing 5 and 10 is ok to get 7.5. I was going to do that before getting hold of the Hyperpro kit

Ian, sorry AK missed your call earlier.

He says he has heard of the ability to mix the oil, but has never done it himself.

have got some 7.5 here if you want it posted?

I have decided to go with 5 weight oil but does anybody know how much should be in each leg as I removed 450ml from them, does this sound about right?

The service manual for the M1000 says 465ml for each leg.

Ian

according to Haynes

From frame VIN 009915,
Marzocchi 40USD/REG
Oil Level = 90mm (measured from top of the tube with fork springs removed and forks fully compressed)
Oil capcity = 390cc

Hope this helps, let me know if your bike has Showa forks as the volume is different
