I must say I haven't seen them do this before.... anyway, I need new discs and pads, before I go off and buy a new set, has anyone got any here in good condition for sale???????

Need 'em real quick if I am to get to gems this weekend :(

... don't make me beg now... oh go on then :mand:

Might as well get new pads from Busters, found them very good and didn't have to pay OTT.

There's often discs for sale on ebay, someone sells brand new ones at £80 - something each, or there's another seller does wavey sets at about £140 a pair and I've heard a fair bit of positive feedback from people who've fitted them, that would probably be my preferred choice. The other option is second hand off ebay, usually a few on there, Aprilia discs fit as well cos they're also 32mm brembo.
Pads - EBC HH are great for road use (Busters) or Performance Friction if you like doing a lot of trackdays!

What difference are wavey discs compared to the norm? They appear cheaper too... have hused the green pads on the 748 and they were really good :)

I seriously recommend a paddock stand. There are front kinds that lift by the yokes that are supposed to be very good. I use a rear stand and suspend the front by lifting the bike by the frame.

For the price the guy is asking for the 'as new' originals, you could have brand new set of waveys ;) Mind you the EBC pro lites could be worth a punt if the price stays low?

Ooh just spotted another set - not 100% sure if 916 discs drop straight on a monster though?

the easiest way to get the front off the ground is to put axle stands under the front forks, two of you can lift them on, just put a bit of cloth between them and the bottom of your forks and you are away!, cheap as chips

I'm pretty sure 916 discs will fit a monster!

As for the waveys, they look good, no other real advantage, but they seem to work well and they're a good price!

GT, the chap with the two discs at 75 each has just emailed me saying I can have the pair for 110 delivered..... they look in good condition and am tempted as need them asap... and for as little as possible.

Zimbo I agree they do look good the waveys... just a tad expensive.. esp after I have just forked out 400 more than I expected on the 900.

Sidrat, pugi... thanks for the good tips :)

heh heh... no worries Pugi, I think I will go for them anyway, they are a bit more expensive than the standard ones but seem alot cooler and retail at 300+ new, they have only done 1400 miles and I can have them delivered for 156... seems fair to me.. I think :mand:

I've used EBC's before and they seemed ok - certainly no worse than the OE fit Brembo's anyway, and few on here run Carbone Lorraine pads and rate those too. http://www.bikehps.com/carbonelorraine/carbone_lorraine.html

Other than that stick with the Brembo pads -they may be a tad expensive but at least you know what results to expect. Some aftermarket pad compounds might not be compatible with the Brembo discs, and racing compounds sometimes not good for road use as they can take a lot of warming up before they work well.

As for the Sils question... a lot fit them for the improved ground clearance they give - just look at how many Desmo Due racers run them. They also have very short end cans so tuck in really well, and this works really well with tail chopped bikes. The downside is that it makes them :cens:ing loud!!! -my 105db cans are mental and ear plugs are a must on anything but really short runs. You can get pukka 'e' marked cans though, and add in baffles for race ones to take the edge off it for around £50-60 a set

Oh... and the high levels make throw overs a bit of a non starter luggage wise ;)

I've just swapped to low termis on the solo and the sound difference is amazing. The Termis are a lot quieter at low rpm and have a deeper more mellow sound than the sils, but then they are a much longer can + oval in section so only to be expected TBH.

Hey GT, thanks for the advice on the zoorts etc etc..... think I might go for the hh ebc's to match the ebc discs..... haven't got the discs yet anyway so no rush.

Like the sound of ****kin loud pipes :) Hopefully i will be buying dukebritishlion's sil's from him if his bike doesnt sell on sunday, I think 200 squid is reasonable for low level sil's in good condition, don't you???????
