Had a great ride out with fellow UKMOC buddies and stopped off to refuel on my way home all by myself and everything was fine.

Well, that was until I tried to start my bike  Nothing, the lights on the dials flashed, the needles whizzed back and forth like normal but no power when I pressed the start button

So I set the alarm, unset the alarm, tried again, stand up, stand down, flicked kill switch, blah blah blah :banghead: I even had an old guy come up to me saying how pretty my bike was but he knew it was a Duke coz it wouldn't start!(cheeky git)

In the end Markus drove out to me, walked upto it, went through the gears, kicked the side stand up and started it...I'd knocked it into gear when putting my sidestand down :dunce: :fou:

How much of a prick did I feel after standing there for half hour and ringing mates up going mental 'I can't believe it's a brand new fecking bike and won't even fecking start now...bloody Ducati's!!!!' :cens:

I used to be able to start my 600 up whilst in gear with the clutch in obviously, so it totally baffled me when nothing was happening - thank god I didn't call the breakdown peeps out

I take back everything I said in that half hour and thank god that there wasn't anything wrong with it - user error :chuckle:

Thanks Markus - I owe you a few beers :mand:

My pleasure as always Hayley - made me laugh, plus got me off of my heavily hungover ass and out of the house.

The wonders of Ducati design catch us all out initially! Leasons I learnt the hard way (in front of the viewing public).

1) If you leave the key in the ignition on my S4 for too long, the imobiliser switches on. All the electrics work and the starter motor happily spins the engine trying to drain the battery, but the :cens: won't fire until you switch off remove the key then put it in again.

2) If you accidently catch the engine kill switch and don't notice, again the starter motor happily spins the engine trying to drain the battery, but the :cens: won't fire until you switch off the kill switch.

Why don't they design it so that the starter won't turn over, at least then you know that there is something wrong!!!! Bloody Italian Designers!!

Try mine, put the key in, switch on, ignition, we have lift off - then pull key out and bike continues runnig just fine.

thats a novelty... do you have to ask for that as an upgrade? :)

Yes, in the trade we refer to it as 'the screw found in the ignition barrel' upgrade. Often more costly than most can afford.

I've heard of that upgrade before.... how on earth did a screw fall in the barrel? Was someone 'aving a larf????

Someone kindly offered to take my bike without asking.
