annoying electrics

Advice needed, pls...
1. headlamp wire going in RH front switch block is not connecting properly. looks damaged/burnt. is it easy to cut back and re-insert? or what is the correct procedure?
2. brake light randomly working when pedal being pressed. see a switch pop out between contact and hammer pin. not a clue what is suppose to happen!!

Burn't wires may suggest bad earth in my experince. Loot at your frame earth, good clean
