I find it incredible what Ducati are doing, lets look at it like this:
Pie chart stylie, the Monster was around 42% of their total market, and sports bikes around 41%, the remaining 17% was the Mutlistrada, SS, ST3 and the new abomination that they have created (the badly made, chromed plastic cafe racer with as much in the way of looks as a Walrus...except that Walrusses are sexy).
So the idiots, have decided, let's reduce our best product line down to 1 bike.....erm hello, am I the only person that thinks...hmmm this is stupid?!?
Ducati are known for 2 things, the Monster, the Sports bikes...and (three things) bad reliability ;) (except that this isn't really the case anymore especially if looked after well).
I'm just so pissed off that they have as good as ditched the best bike that they made, in favour of a cheap imitation with no model range in favour of a plastic chromed piece of ****.
THEN.....oooohhh don't get me going, they are to do the Supermotad....they look great, but if you've ever done motorcross a trellis frame with an open engine bottom.......why oh why oh why.
Sorry to rant on guys, I know that i am new here but I just hate to see something that has become such a part of my life be reduced to ruin.
Rant over so here is a sexy walrus....

I'm in total agreement with both Kevin Ash (especially about the turning circle; it sometimes feels I'm trying to do a U-turn a London Bus!) and the Yeti. Can't believe they're discontinuing the Monsters, even mine which they only introduced six weeks ago! What are they thinking of?

...They haven't confirmed anything yet but if you read this the monster still has a future. http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=17783

I'm sure I read that they're only reducing the number of different kinds of monster, not cutting them out completely. They're keeping the Euro3 emissions thingy engines (the 695 & the 1000DS), but as the 800 is only Euro2 then Ducati will have to pay tax on it because its not green enough - which probably means the 800 would cost more than the 1000 which isn't good business.
Having ridden the 695 and the 1000 I think that's all the engines they need for the monsters (IMO the rad on the 916 & testrastretta's is ugly). I've gone for the S2R800 because you get more bits as standard, but I'd have been just as happy to have the 695 if there was no other choice.

ive also got this months Two Wheels Only mag, and it also heaps good words on the 695.
but just keep in mind, as until we hear what the Duc ranges will be next year from Ducati, everything will be hearsay and speculation, especially from MCN, who seem to write alot of ****e recently. remember, if they report on in enough, eventually they will get one of the million stories right lol
