Hola a todos!

Crashed my bike a few months ago. Some idiot made the turning and didn't see me or my beauty. Front wheel damaged but is not that bad. It's been categorised salvage B and written off. But I really want it back on the road. I've heard this is possible. Anyone knows if it's possilble (legally, of course..)?

I think cat B means that only parts can be salvaged not the whole bike, perhaps the frame is bent or something.( cat A's are complete wrecks that have to be destroyed, you could perhaps salvage a fuse or something if you were lucky)
Its cat C and cat D that can be put back on the roads and can be bought back off the insurance companies.

I presumed so, but it's so unfair! The frame is not damage and I don't want to get rid off it. I'll see how I can do to take it to Spain

Thank you!

...Take the insurance money. Come to an agreement with your insurance company to buy back the salvage. They usually do it dirt cheap. Then buy a second bike like this one off eBay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4645033675&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1) and swap all the bits round. It then means you're left with two bikes, one which can be a track day only bike and the other is essentially your old bike less the broken bits. COuld be a better alternative than trying to get your Cat B back on the road, regardless of which country you try it in. :mand:

CAT B is the bike can be used for salvage but cannot be put back on the road. Normally with a bike the frame will be the main reason to put as a B.

I am hearing that a lot of insurers are not allowing the bikes to be kept and prefer it to go to their salvage company to dispose off as they make the max profit for the insurers.

you are not wrong in that:(

We know of 3 of the large ins companies now have a policy where all cat A & B bikes compulsorarily go to their salvage co
