Hello folks,

The hassle with my bike continues, I had a bit of an off, 2 weeks ago and had to take the tank to the paint shop to be repaired, had to order a tank decal for the one side which took 2 weeks and arrived today. Took said decal to the paint shop only to find the guy has resprayed the entire tank and needs two decals so am faced with a two week wait for another.

Anyway to cut a long story short, a guy near me can make me two up from scratch and I want to keep the authentic, 90,s look, but thought instead of "Ducati Monster" I thought I might go for "Ducati Il Monstro" as in the Italian. Can anyone tell me if that is the correct Italian, as I dont want to find once its been laquered it actually means something rude........

Try Emilys Driver... Rod does a good impression of being fluent in Italian (fools me anyway :dizzy: ).

He's fluent alright and properly, he's at work right now but will ask him to look in later.

Like Miles said, it would be 'mostro' or 'il mostro', if you want to use the definitive article. But as it's not used in English (at least mine just says Ducati Monster), so you would leave it out, hence just have 'Ducati Mostro'.

PS - I'm quite fluent.

Looking at a few websites it seems the M900 was nicknamed "Il Mostro" by employees of Ducati when it was originally designed, "Il Mostro" being the Italian for "The Monster", however the English speaking press bastardized this and it became known as "Il monstro", which means nothing in Italian. The strange thing is my insurance docs list my bike as a M900 "Il Monstro"

So I think I am going to go with "Il Mostro" :roger:

In caso che io ho raggione, di dove vieni? Io ho un sacco di amici che abbitano in Italia e i miei nonne errano Italiane. Per effetto durante la coppa mondiale del calcio, io voglio montare due oppure tre bandiere tricolori sulla mia machina, invece di quelle inglese!!

No, io sono finlandese, ma ho vissuto in Italia, e ci torno due-tre volte all'anno per le vacanze. E poi c'ho amici italiani qui a Londra, quindi lo parlo abbastanza spesso. C'ho un progetto con un'amica di andare in Italia, ai laghi, per due settimane in settembre, lei colla sua SV650 ed io colla mia 695... Beh, vediamo... Ciao...

Abbastanza spesso, ma lei almeno lo scrivi sensa sbagli come io !

I've got one of those - very useful for chain adjustment or removing rear wheel :mand:
