I ride a 620 fuel injection as a commuter bike. Sometimes when you zoom between the lights, I am revving quite high, say 8500-9000 rpm. Is that too high? Say for example if you were on a track, would it be bad to ride the engine at very high revs. It feels a lot smoother at those engine speeds but I guess that is because the off beats are so close together.

The rev limiter will stop you over reving the engine. I believe that modern engines are perfectly capable of being used very hard will no ill effects as long as they are in good condition and serviced correctly and regularly. A good thrashing can do them good as it prevent the bores glazing and promotes a better seal between the ring and the bores.
I've only ever hit the limiter once on mine and that was on the start/finish straight at Snetterton.

If your engine is nicely warmed up should be nothing wrong with it. 9000rpm is quite flat out for inbetween the lights I would of thought, time to change up?

9,200 is the point to change up on an 05 sorted 620 ;) you get no more pulling after that point :D
In top gear (6th on the 05 bikes) at 9,200 you should be doing about 130/4mph:thumbsup:

for earlier 620's (02/03) it is dead on 9000

seems to suit 'Tango' travelling with those revs, but she does get oil changes every other meeting (or every meeting, dependant on heat/length of running etc) and full tlc check over too.
3 changes of plugs a season is likely too, as prevention.
