Where do I get shiny cambelt covers to liven up my boring S2R?
And does anyone have any suggestions for other ways to enhance her?

I already have termis on order - but the cat is staying because the hugger does not fit without it.
I also have plans for a shorter tail.

It looks gorgeous! I'd get nicer belt covers like you say, chop the tail using one of JMo's kits (plug there for ya Jen  ), nicer mirrors, different cans which like you say you've got on order, possibly a belly pan, rearsets etc.

I get my new S2R (800) in a couple of weeks in the same colour scheme as yours and I can't wait!:bunny:

I'd get rid of the cat and not worry about a hugger. No cat, termis, open air box and power commander = wayhay, mucho big fun.

Cut the zip ties and replace them with red ones for a much cleaner look.

Belt covers
pro bolt kit - go red!!!
Clip ons?
Clutch - open up the beastie and hear the rattle!!! - get a contrasting pressure plate, cups and springs
drip tippex on your tank in an arty way (no sorry - that was silly)
Mirrors
Cans
Power commander
REAR SETS!!!!
I can advise if needs be - I am a magpie in disguise!!!

The good news is, the main things you can do to help tease out the natural beauty of that beast are all free.

Loose the zip ties, the side panels, the front fairing, the mirrors and...the tail.

Less, definately is more ;)

...and unbolt the pillion pegs if you dont use them regularly,it takes two minutes to put them back on if you have to.

Benson - you loon!

800cc engine has a wet clutch, open cover would be a) impossible, and b) very messy, followed by very expensive...

Also, pro-bolts in red?! - perleeeese... only if you want to look like an acne riddled student my dear - coloured bolts are the worst thing ever - and especially the red which are more pink and don't even match the bike anyway! Total chav city (ah, it's starting to make sense of course x) - even Halfords have stocks of the damn things... (my suggestion, keep em stainless, or maybe black, at a push...)

As for belt covers - Rizoma do some nice ones with windows in, not cheap but very nice and fit perfectly... and as for the chop kit, goes without saying really... ahem.

He he he he!!! Yes indeedy - loon I am!!! :p

Life would be toooooo dull without such behaviour - :on:

Wet clutch schmet cluthc - hell - open it anyway!!!

Meanwhile - less is not more - it's less otherwise it would be more - right???;)

Chappers - enjoy your S2R - they are great fun - the tail will probably stay, but in a shorter form. I thik a belly pan is a must. Probably a red Monza stylee.

Gilps - the hugger has to stay as it was a present. (I will have to look into ways of removing the cat AND keeping the hugger)

Dave G - good idea about the zip ties. I have seen some on ebay. Thanks.

Benson - belt covers - yes

red bolts- yughhhh. As JMo says they are too chavy. Perhaps silver.

mirrors good idea. I am thinking silver

cans - yes

clip ons - no I already find it a stretch to reah the handlebars.

rearsets - my dodgy knee won't cope

clutch cover - not a good idea. I don't really want clutch fluid all over my garage floor.

eonan - the fairing stays. I need some respite on the Hampshire dual carriageways.

Jmo - thanks for the tip re Rizoma. I will look for them on t'internet.

Pablo - black! I don't think so.
Good to see your Raleigh Chopper is the fastest colour.

Nah, it's a good thing, a blessing...you don't want these. They're a nice item in their own right, but on the bike, well it's all just a bit too much. I think anyway. That lesson cost me £80

Dude! good choice on the S2R, and the colour is perfecto!

on order is a
Carbon Fibre vented 748 front fender
Carbon Fibre timing belt cover
Carbon Fibre clutch cover
Carbon Fibre front and rear chain guards
Carbon Fibre front sprocket cover

and when all that arrives in 2 weeks, i will have spent 1000 quids on Carbon accessories! and ive not decided on an exhaust yet! i really cant!

heres 2 photos of my baby, so you can see what the lower cowl looks like.

save up and get a one off made??? JMo has a very nifty one on her M600 which is really stunning and very polished - and the guys that did hers specialise in one offs - worth saving up and possibly going without food???:dizzy:

had a look at the 2006 weekender pics, and ther is a bike there, with a no. plate of V2 JMO, which has the same tail as what i want for an underseat exhaust! all i would need is a relocated custom no. plate holder and new indicator mounts! oh gawd!

Well how about this for a suggestion then - since you're clearly a carbon fiend too, why not get hold of a 998 numberplate holder in carbon fibre (they ought to be cheap now, since anyone who wanted one has probably got one), which is basically a thin strip that fits between two cans, then splays out to hold your numberplate below them, and which would bolt onto the base of the JMo chop kit bracket (a bloody bargin at £39.99 inc P&P) - which would allow you to lose the rear tea-tray, and re-mount the rear lamp and whichever indicators you fancied?

Ta ta!

Don't ask me! - ask the guy who makes them!

I imagine in the high hundreds - less than a full Termi system put it that way...

If you get Zorstec to make something, you can lose the cat at the same time... mind you, if you want a bargin alternative - have a look what Elmo did to his S2R - cost him about £30 I think!

Google Zorstec, or call them on 01274 587004

Just 4 words...

Complete and utter s hite  (needed a vomit smiley but couldn't find one)

But life (as they say) is all about choices - so.....

A/ you can either chuck wads of cash down the pan and end up with a pile of poo

B/ spend 30 notes and end up with one of the coolest (IMO) budget exhausts I've seen in years

I agree with JMO those arse cannons are yeuch:freak:

What's the point of buying an S2R with sexy stacked exhausts and putting that piece of poo on the back?

The jury is still out on Elmo's exhausts. I can't decide whether I love them or hate them.

i might go for these Zard ones as i cant be arsed to get shunned by the UK Monster community lol

i know i know singletrack, i love the stacked cans, but the only ones i like on hte bike, are the std ones! all the aftermarket jobbies look poo in comparison, in my eyes.

neilbaldry
11-05-2006, 09:02 PM
so how much noisier are they then dave?

Dave G
11-05-2006, 09:39 PM
Umm!
A lot noisier!!
to be honest when you ditch the cat that increases the noise by a fair bit,but now with the cans and open airbox it sound about as loud as the termi's on my 916 were.
I went to Inverary the other day and was talking to another biker who said he heard me coming from about 8 miles away, granted that was the sound carrying over a loch and around a glen but still, thats quite a way to be heard. I suppose I could always re-baffle them....slightly.
