Heyelp, Fuel tank float!

Is there any way of reconnecting a fuel tank float?

I have bought a replacement tank off ebay and the float just rattles around inside. I guess it should fit to a bolt towards the hinge end of the tank but how to position the float to get the bolt in!?

Any ideas or do I just let the float, errr... float?:confused:

Not sure if this helps but on the fuel injected models you remove the filler cap assembly so you can get your hand in the tank.

Sadly it is not the injected type.
