Well, where do I begin.....<sigh> lol, my girlfriend has has a long standing desire to get into the whole bike thing, which is something that I have of course tried to encourge :D
So as it's her birthday tomorrow, a little while ago I hatched a plan.
When I met her I knew her only as Ducati Kitten and over the last few months have managed (with a great deal of effort) to PURswade her to get a Monster, she wanted a 749 or 748 as they look sexy but once the pro's and con's had been explained and I had cried alot she began to understand.
Then The way was set, so I found a standard Monster 900 Dark:

So How to make it my Babys dreams, well part of this log wasn't photopgraphed, so I fitted High rise pipes, and dragged it into the...
<WORKSHOP OF DOOM!!!!> I will say at this point that I have never sprayed "proper" paint befoe, but went out and got a compressor etc, I wanted this to be good....
so we began to strip...no Not me!!!

More stripping......

So, the next step was the base coat, I wanted thick but not too thick that it didn't need laquer, so here are the little beasties in their glory..., painted but unfinished...
http://www.bad-yeti.dsl.pipex.com/bike7.JPG
and a couple more to show that a decent finish is possible....but boy does it take time...

Next came the thinking stage.....I was going to Germany on business and Money was a factor..so, I got my thinking cap on....
http://www.bad-yeti.dsl.pipex.com/bike8.JPG
and came up with a plan........not so much a cunning plan, but an insidious one.....one that if it pays off would mean 75 "Girlfiend get out of Jail free cards" LOL.....but I think it did pay off.....
see next post.
P.S. German people get really worried if you leap onto their table in a restaurant and pretend to be a Walrus........just thought that you should know :D

I came back from Germay yesterday to the parts with the graphix done..and was both pleased and dissapointed, it seems that signwriters have this outlook that it things arent done right ( a small bubble here and there) then its the "canvases" fault....but time is of the essence, so...this is than I had.....

So, now we come to the end product.........
Damn this has been a labour of love.....I wanted to create a bike for the woman that I love that was as individual as she is (sorry for the mushie bit here) and I have done that, but also I wanted the whole project to be done by my own hands.....which it has been.
So the end product?
See the next post.....

One thing that I will say is that it has been great to do a Project from start to finish like this, I still havn't finisted messing around with my S2R more to come on that....like the open clutch cover.....yes your heard that right :D:D:D
But this has been both an ordeal, learing everything from scratch about painitng and also a real joy.
See you all soon....

.............I'm grinning.........and speechless............
I am the lucky lady to for whom Yeti has sweated, rubbed, painted and almost lost a lung for...spay jobs in your garage arent the easiest even with the right mask...
I hardly feel worthy of the beautiful creation he has masterminded for me..
..I guess a good man is like a good bike....a rare thing...but once you find it...
you ride it for the rest of your life.....with a great big smile on your face....;)
Thank you hunny.....you really are the best.
Enough of the mushy stuff...the guys are reading this and probably chucking into buckets...fantastic job..as for the sweet talk....
See you later....:spin:

The pics are only half of it, can you give a wordy explanation of how you stripped, prep'd and painted all this stuff. Halfords cans or something a bit more serious. I can see its a good job but i'd love to know how to do it.
