We've all seen them. The four wheel equivalents to the 'Born Again Harley Davidson Brigade'* But where as the 'Born Agains' are usually in their 50's upwards, and use leather & chrome Harley bolt-on tackiness, the 'Chav Mobiles' are driven by younger men, usually from 18-25 who use Halfrauds plastic bolt-on tackiness.#
New chavvy bolt-ons seem to be appearing thick and fast, and I'm loseing track of it all, especially as I don't see many where I live. One of which is wheel 'Spinners' that were mentioned in another post by Nealenet. What the f**k are they?
What's the worst bit of Chav tack you've seen the 'proud' owner displaying on / in his car?

(*As apposed to those who have ridden Harleys & chops for years, and make / ride some very nice bikes.)

(#As apposed to REAL custom cars that seem to have virtually dissappeared from our roads.)

Spinners are those rubbish things that make it look like the wheels are turning when there not if you see what i mean. Yeah they look allright on an all black and chrome range rover or hummer in a hip hop video but on a pearl effect peach coloured vauxhall corsa 1.1?????

My fav is those blue lit up washer jets on the bonnet, no wait lit up tyre valve caps, or the blatently fake second exhaust pipes some of them add which stay shinny clean while the other gets all black and rusty, too much choice. I'm sure one will drive past soon and give me a new favorite!!

I imagine we have all been there though....

My pride and joy was an imaculate standard MK 2 escort popular plus,I then added Xpack body kit,RS alloys, cobra seats,1.7 Minster crossflow engine with Kent can and twin 40 webbers etc.

Looked something like this....

The best thing are the hubcap spinners. Especially ones that you can still see the steel wheels behind.

Bod,

Mine was a Mk3 Ford Capri in red, Lowered, debadged, spoiler removed, 2.1 pinto with twin 45 webbers and rally exhaust system. A little bit of a street sleeper, until it was turned on!!!

No knee down on the roundabouts, just sideways all the way 1980's drifting!!!

Rear wheel drive is great!!

Yorkie....nice

Yeh kept mine as standard for few months (but with the engine in) had more fun with it that way.
Teasing XR3i's at the lights only to blow them away in a powder blue 1.1 badged escort:D

my favourite mod is the underbody lighting. Those Novas look good going down the road with the whole underneath of the car glowing blue like some kind of mobile nuclear disaster. Tasty.

Something that really looks stupid to me is when they've actually managed to aquire a nice set of alloy rims (by starving for a full year) that have thin spokes to allow you to see the brake disc and huge calliper. Except...the disc is minimal and stock, and so is the calliper. I've even seen a VW Golf that had nothing but wee drum brakes behind the £500 a piece wheels. That's performance for you! :twak:

Well my MX5 is bog standard to look at, but has big uprated brakes/pads, uprated suspension, usual K&N nonsense, and a supercharger is on it's way later in the year to give a genuine 200 odd bhp at the back wheels with the intercooler fitted. That should upset a few Novas, and Porches, BMWs etc etc...

I know exactly what you all mean

I saw this thing the other day, big exhaust mod, all K&N this, and dodgy number plate that. Metallic flake paint job here, some polishing there, clear rear lights, you know the kind of thing.

It was my Monster 900

Pots, Kettles, tin of black paint anyone??!!

Not at all. Most bike mods are done to aid the engines breathing and exhausting from the ties that bind from EU regs etc. Thus engines perform better and sound better.
This is as opposed to the average chav mobile covered in lit up plastics, Halfrauds bolt on plastic, boom boxes in the boot, dummy exhausts and the abomination that is the lit up wheel hubs.

Nonnie of course, is an exception. She's a two-wheelin' disco queen with a tacky taste for 70s bling that borders on psudeo chaviness with a Norfolk inspiration. :D :D

I've seen that on plastic fantasics too. I wonder if you can get spinners for bikes?
