View Full Version : Starter Problem
I wonder if any of you kind people can help a damsel in distress - well okay then, my personal mechanic who seems to be scratching his head.
The starter motor is turning clockwise, the second gear is turning anticlock and the gear behind the flywheel is turning clockwise and yet it isn't engaging the flywheel to turn over - it is just spinning.
Can anybody help?

Upsetting me is one thing but breaking your bike and making Al fix it then making him give up smoking is too much.....

Mand,
If you have aggro getting it sorted for the weekender, due to waiting for parts etc.. you could always bump start it, plus you would get a free hip and thigh workout to boot
Oh dear - should I start to run & hide now :look:
Bumping's not ideal - but at least it means you get the bike there. I know just how you feel I was fighting with a non starter just before Arrow Mill in 2005, which turned out to be couple of snapped wires in the loom - oh how I laughed:grump: Thought I'd resort to bumping it, or shorting the solenoid with a spanner to start it (bit lairy  ) but luckily got it sorted just in time.
Don't yah just lurve Ducati character?

Hi Gary
Al is going to have one last look at it tonight when he gets home from work but having just spoken to Ped about it, it looks like it is a job for a man with the correct tool.
I have a plan of action.....with a little bit help from my friends ;)
Fingers crossed I get her back for the Weekender.
Thanks for your comments though x
