Hey - I'm new to this ducati thang, bought a S2R yesterday! any advice, help or anything or just conversation would be great!

Oh I'd like to shorten and tidy up the rear end tray thing - any idea's, this must be a regukar question i guess. I've seen the carbon one, but a bit pricey for me at the moment.

Thanks all
Mkus

Hello mate and welcome to the club. What are you looking at doing to your tail? Chopping it off or just replacing the tea tray with a Carbon Fibre jobbie? There's lots of things you could do. Just don't end up doing the same as me; nothing! I bought an MV Agusta rearend but don't think I like it now so I haven't fitted it. Then I wanted to chop the tail off but haven't found any replacement indicators I like so the bike hasn't changed a bit yet! :twak: Anyway, there's loads of people on here who can give techie help if ever you need it. Have fun.

Phil

Hey man,

thanks for the reply - someone else extreamly busy at work i guess - ha ha.
I'm not ready to cut the rails yet (the bike doesn't even get delivered till tom - so that really is pre-empting). I've been searching the web for something to make it as clean as possible - i did see an alloy tea tray on a bike at the ace that was perferated and then just had a real small number plate/indicator bracket that looked ok - any idea?
I'm not a massive carbon fan is all.

I'll carry on looking n see what i can find - there's some great threads on here i've found.

Chuffed to be part of the duc click

Just go to Search on the navigation bar on this page, and type in "Tail Chop" - you'll get loads, but check out

as a starting point.

And Welcome to the UKMOC.

I used a Dremmel, but to be fair I think that a hacksaw would give a cleaner cut, then file it to make it all smooth, treat it and paint it to prevent rust (BMW Red looks identical) whack in some plugs and then make a bracket for your plate etc.

It you want I will bend you up a bracket to hold the indicators, Plate and light, just let me know.

Later mate.

P.S. Don't worry about the DT's I did mine after a load of Vodka...it helped :)

Bad-Yeti had the right idea, but you might want to wait a week or so until I have my all-in-one chop kit brackets back from the powder coaters - that way you can utilise the original numberplate holder and numberplate light, mount a range of rear indicators, or go for a clear version with built in indicators like 'Yeti...

All will be revealled in a few days....

xxx

(note. this picture was taken before the new bracket was fitted, the finished item has built in tabs to mount the indicators in teh position shown, or can be left blank if you fit the all in one light unit).

The brake/tail aspect might be, but I doubt the indicator section would conform to construction and use regs... (spacing etc.) However, you could always fit secondary indicators come MoT time, then take them off again...

And as you say, what price style huh?!

xxx

btw. I got the first set of brackets back from the cutters today - and they are bloody excellent (even though I say so myself, ahem) - they are still bare metal, but hope to have everything back form the powder coaters by the end of next week.

I'll start a specific thread for all those intested in purchasing a chop-kit, with pix etc. Just sourcing a ready supply of frame bungs and all the hardware, and finalising the price with the cutters/coaters on Monday...
