Hee hee x - that is a great piece of kit if you have the later model frame though, especially if it comes with the hub and everything... bet it goes for a lot more than the starting price though...

In this case, no! Jammy :cens:
Hmmmmmmm - I had already arranged to buy it from him on Wednesday, and he didn't end the listing...
Not sure what the protocol is now, but I'm not going to fight Clai for it...
As long as one of us gets it!

Ah JMo that sucks! I prefered the original [uncut] version of your post though. I wouldn't worry, I'm not really that keen on that arm...I do like the Motocorse one though :pedro:

Jen, if the auction wasn't stopped, (which it wasn't), he'll have to sell to Clai.
That's the rules.
Shame the bloody sheep worrying Gog git got it, but not everything in life is sweet. I suppose we'll have to put up with him showing off now.

Oi! - I will not have a word said against him! - he is an utter gent of the highest order (see above x)
I've emailed our Italian friend and he is trying to sort it out... as I understand, if the winner tells the seller they dont want the item afterall (which would normally incurr negative feedback of course), then the seller can contact Ebay to have the commission refunded, as the sale was forfeit.
He is then able to sell it to me as we had originally agreed...
However, as Clai says - the other option is for him to buy it, and we can sort it out when it gets here - however, the seller would rather not pay the commission on the Ebay sale since I was not buying through Ebay. There is also the question of the shipping costs, which we had nigotiated based on the sale being independent of Ebay...
Clai - I'll PM you about this...

Not butting in

You'll be better off going through the eBay route. It might cost you a little more but (as long as the sales genuine) you have some form of safety net. Don't start getting into the murky world of eBay subterfuge. It's not pleasant!!
I apprieciate the warnings chaps - he seems ok via the emails we've been sending, I think he's just a bit nieve when it comes to Ebay procedures... it seems to be a dealer/workshop of sorts, as he has new slipper clutches and some right tasty wheels available too...
I'm waiting to hear back from him with his bank details, I think he's just a crazy Italian to be honest...

Heres a copy of his E-Mail to me ......................................Its like Jen said he`s a niave crazy italian l:wallace:
Hi David,
I am Max. Sorry, but I do not speak English very well.
Anyway...
I had put myself of agreement with an other English person...and now it has said me that you have spoken to the telephone together, and you have found an agreement.
If I have understood well, you not chip axes more the swing-arm. Just? And therefore I do not pay the commission of E-bay...Just?
However the mono swing-arm costs 900 euro, the shipping costs 170 euro.
Total 1,070 euro.
If you're interested I have also of the clutches antihopping Ducati Corse (4 molle) (absorber)?!?!
They are new! directly from the SBK!
Look the picture!
I've also Marvic wheels, used but perfect!
Bye, Max.
Nice wheels but only any good if you have the Swingarm to go with them;)
Any one help with the Chip Axes bit ??????????(is it AXE TO GRIND !!!!!)
Well i am going to send an Email now telling him to sell the Arm to Jmo .I just hope i dont get negative feed back or see it on another bike
Clai
Living in hope of another bargin swing arm

There's no reason why you'll get neg feedback just cos you don't complete the deal. As long as you're both in agreement you can still leave positive feedback for each other.
I was just going to say what Pbod' said - Ebay admin won't give you negative feedback, and as you are both in agreement there is no need to leave any feedback really.
As for it being a 'bargin' Clai - that is of course a relative term xx - but yes, all things considered, it ought to make the conversion as painless as possible...
The only problem now is that everyone will know what to expect at the monster weekender... well, partily anyway x
You are truely a gent Clai...

Hi all
so what's the difference between a 9xx single sider and this one then
excuse me ignorance

The main difference is that the 916 frame is different to the S4 round where the shock mounts etc.
This Swing arm in theory should slot straight in with no buggering around welding grinding and machining.
Looking at the Ebay shots it would have finshed mine off nicly with the new S/S exhaust i am currently making
Thanks for that.
show us some photos of the ss exhausts please when there done

At an intial glance, it would appear not a lot... (thus you are excused your ignorance x)
However, although visually similar, using a 916 etc swingarm requires a lot of work before it can be fitted to a Monster frame/engine.
Basically, the Monster engine cases need to be machined down to accept the narrower 916 swingarm, and the frame needs to be extended so that it encapsulates the pivots of the 916 swingarm also. The 916 swingarm is also slightly shorter than a Monster swingarm, so the corrispondingly shorter wheelbase may mean you find the finished result a little twitchy/fun - depending on your outlook... you may find the shock top mount/pivot area also needs work to line everything up.
Also, a 916 etc. has a cable speedo drive, whereas the later Monsters require an electronic signal from a sensor on the rear wheel - this also requires a six bolt disk (rather than the 916 4 bolts) unless you are using an S2R/S4R speedo, in which case, you probably have a single sider already...
In a nutshell, the Febur swingarm kit is a copy of the 916 style, but designed to be fitted straight onto the engine (like an S4R arm does) and utilise the original shock mounting positions of the S4 style frame. It is slightly longer to retain the original wheelbase, and has the necessary pick up on the caliper carrier to drive an electronic speedo.
Due to their high initial price, they are also like hens teeth to be honest.

Thanks for that
I hope all goes well with the purchase
& i look forward to seeing it in the flesh

Jmo, Do you know anyone who has fitted a 998 swingarm to a later 620 monster? I,m interested in doing this and have the chance of a complete swingarm disc, sprocket caliper etc for £280.
Jmo, Do you know anyone who has fitted a 998 swingarm to a later 620 monster? I,m interested in doing this and have the chance of a complete swingarm disc, sprocket caliper etc for £280.
Sorry I don't, but the principle is the same as fitting one to any air-cooled (or indeed the S4) Monster...
The main problem (as in my quote above) is the need to machine the rear of the engine to accept the narrower Superbike swingarm, and have extra brackets welded to the bottom of the frame near the footrests to located the swingarm pivot... I'm not sure that work to the top shock mount isn't also required, even with the later bikes (it is with the earlier hoop-style rear suspension linkage Monsters). With all that work involved, plus repainting the frame together with the associated cost of getting the speedo sensor to work the electronic gauges (plus a wheel, and tyre) I think you'll find that £280 suddenly turns into £1280 very quickly.
Despite the faff and cost, a number of club members have gone down that route (Grant seems to have done it at least twice now!) and Viv at V-tech can advise, as could AK (of CK&AK) as he did much of the work to his own bike himself (although I believe he got V-tech to do the frame mods/machining).
Good luck with it, although you might be better off hanging on for an S4R swingarm? (there was one on Ebay the other week) as it will not require the frame/engine mods...
