Anybody using this forum into the rally scene, I live about half an hour from Warwick and will be doing the bulldog bash and a few others this summer, just wondered if anyone else does the rally thing. Only saw one other monnie at last years

I used to do loads of rallies with my club in the mid 80's. My personal best being about 25 in one season, including the Kent custom, Bulldog bash, Vee Twin and a couple in France and Germany. I now only do around a dozen rallies a year - mostly for NABD's benefit, but as I'll be knocking the repping on the head this year I'll do less than normal. I steer clear of the really big rallies now (like the Bulldog Bash) as I find them a turn off TBH. I prefer the smaller traditional events (200-500 people) with the odd larger one around the 2000 punter mark.

I can recommend the NABD national rally at Astle Park in Cheshire (near Jodrell bank) on the 2nd weekend in May, and the NABD Autumn rally in September near Oxford.

we used to do the Bulldog, but the last time we were there was in 2001.
Used to love the gert gallybagger on the Isle of Wight in May, tho missed the last 2 years cos of racing or the weekender
Kent Custom used to be a regular haunt (never remembered much for days after tho ;) ), as also the Vee twin rally.
Quite a few more, but back in the 80's & 90's.

GT - we must have missed each other at times - but what memories eh? :D

Now tend to be found in the paddock at race meetings these days:cool:

Oh yes... mostly blurred by booze :chuckle:

Took 2 hours to find my tent in the dark at the Kent Custom one year :fou:

Used to do loads of Rallies in the 80s before they got too commercialised. Did the Bulldogs forerunner which used to be on Long Marston airfield in a november and alll the rallies I remember were held between September and April hence it was always cold, muddy, wet, snowy or a combination of the lot.

Seems the more commercial they get, the less spontaneous they become.

Vee-Twin Rally - run by the Moto Guzzi club... small and friendly with usually a few Monsters (7+ last year). August B/H weekend at Fordingbridge.

Hi G,

Tell me more about the Astle Park Rally. Jodrell Bank is less than ten miles for me.

Cheers.

We are off to the Kupferpaste in Germany 11th - 13th August. It's about 70 miles SE of Frankfurt. The rally is free to Italian bikes. Check out the website at www.kupferpaste.de

The autobahn definitely clear your exhaust out!

Hope to see you there ;)

We plan to do the Celtic Warriors one next month, the BMF Memba rally and Tail end rally, and hopefully the Bulldog Bash too this year; now I've got a bigger bike we may look to doing a few more.

I might see you at the Celtic Warriors then Jane, but I'm not doing the Memba Rally this year as it just seems to get smaller and smaller each year...

Any idea who we have to tickle to play there again? Last 2 NABD gigs were a riot and I know we'd be up for some more!!:yoparty:

Best thing is to contact NABD head office, and Shirly may be able to put you in touch with Rick Hulse about booking a slot.

Hope to see you there

used to do heaps of rallies then i got married and wife not into that scene / camping and lays big guilt trip each time I go to one

still manage 3 or 4 a year though and avoid all large commercial ripoff rallies run by back patch clubs

rallies in europe are more laid back

Ah the Kent Custom show. It used to be on my doorstep, in fact I first asked my missus out at one of them - when it was held in Stone Street before they moved to Angel Field on the Marsh. She got hammered on Pippin Cider (about half a gallon if I recall) was sick on my shirt and I asked her out. Later that night an 18 stone Hells Angel tripped over and fell on her and she didn't remember a thing about it the next day. I even missed Dr. Feelgood's set to look after her - happy days! :drunk:

First one I went to was when it was held up at the old Halfway Cafe in Harrietsham now (think I'll shut up as I'm showing my age).

OMG someone else who's done the Gallybagger rally!!! I was there in 90 and 91, absolutley loved it even though it was a bit of a trek from Stoke on Trent!

How the hell my bum survived doing a thousand miles oner 4 days I'll never know!

I really miss doing rallies...might have to get back into them again! :drunk:

Just got back from it myself last weekend, always an absolutely banging rally, this one and the Farmyard Rally are my two "must-do" rallies every year!

You may recognise the beer tent poles in the background of my Avatar, just gotta climb them after the 9th or 10th beer!
