Hi can anybody give me an idea of what you would expect to pay for a 1st year service on a 620 which has done 2300 miles i have been quoted £220 :( where i purchased my bike (main dealer) seems steep to me after seeing what my mates have been quoted for there bikes all 600 sports of various types in all cases at least £100 cheaper:eyepopping: or is this the norm.
cheer me up someone there must be an alternative:confused:

Have you asked Italia Moto in Lincoln? They are close to you and their prices seem 'reasonable' (for Ducati)! in my experience, their service quality is very good.

Thats where i got my bike and the service price, looking at some other web sites it does not seem to bad, price of the 2nd service looks scary should i re-mortgage the house now is it essential the belts need changing in the second year even if you have not done 12k miles????

Changing he belts is essential, the consequences of a broken belt you don't even want to think about!!! However they're something like £13 each and take about 20 minutes to do.

However if you go dealer rather than DIY route - it usually puts an extra £70 to £100 on the cost of a service by the time you add in labour and VAT.

I would say £220 sounds about right for a main dealer 12 month (or 6000 mile)service. A local (independant) service agent charges £150 + parts for a 12000mile service. It's the labour charge that pushes the cost up - main dealers quote something like 5 hours for a full service :eyepopping:

Belts for a 600 are about £13, for a 620 they are quite a bit more i think.

Thanks for posting the link to service costs @ 1 and 2 years - does anyone know what I can expect to pay for the first (600 mile) service on an S2R as mine is just about due.

The 1st service on Ducati's use to be FOC many moons ago, but bikes are so heavily discounted these days dealers now charge. The cost varies a lot with some just charging for parts (oil, filter and a few sealing washers) and others charging labour as well - which includes checking things like desmo shims & belts.

I paid £140 for the 600 mile service on my 900 almost 4 years ago. Best thing is to shop around for the best deal, and I'm sure a few S2R owners will be along presently to give more recent quotes?

S2r 600 mile service has already been the subject of much discsussion on here, so to summarise. If you can, negotiate a reduced cost or free service BEFORE you buy your bike, otherwise you will have very little leverage afterwards. The recommended service time for the 1st service is 3.5 hours plus materials. They have to check valve clearances apparently and this takes some time. I also suspect that they have to check lots of other things too as Ducati obviously don't trust their own factory to build them properly.
The cheapest I found from 3 dealers, including the one that sold me the bike, was £215 at Pegasus in Reading. £240 from Ducati Aylesbury (supplying dealer), and £245 at Riders of Bristol. Other have had similar costs quoted.
The problem is, the service book says that you bear the cost of the service, but you are strongly encouraged to go back to a Ducati authorised service centre. The good thing is, if you do low milegaes like me ie. less than 6k per year, you only have to go back to main dealers twice. Once for the 600 mile, and next for the 1 year. Get the 2nd year done elsewhere as the warranty is worthless by then anyway.

£220 sounds a bit steep to me, but different parts of the country can afford to charge higher prices.

£42 for 1st 600 on my 620...was agreed at time of sale though...even after battering discount of the bike,got mine done at Linclon did you use Ducati Leeds?
