Hi all,
I need a bit of advice if anyone can help, please. On my 1995 Monster the indicators are 10 volt. Does anyone know if I could fit 12 volt indicators without fitting resisters.:dizzy:
Would there be any side effects?

Cheers

Couldn't you just fit a 10v bulb in the new indicators???

I wouldn't have thought so, I reckon that the cable would most certainly be the same mm² anyway, so shouldn't cause any probs...............

I am taking it from the outside of the indicator it says 10v. Took that to be 10 volts.

If it is stamped on the outside of the lamp are you sure it reads 10W not 10V?

Your monster is definately 12V Gully, you can fit any 12V indicator you like. Get the ones with 21W bulbs though, some of the mini cheap ones have 5W bulbs which a) can't be seen and b) make the indicators flash too quickly.

Graham,

Any 12volt 10watt indicator will be ok - the busters mini-eggs work fine on mine. Lower wattage ones don't put enough load on the relay and will flash too fast. LED ones only draw about 0.2watts so even worse unless you fit a matched relay or in-line resistors. Higher 22 watt flashers may still work ok, and I suppose would in theory flash slower if it didn't shag the relay?

Safe bet would be to match the standard ones to avoid un-neccesary hassle and expense ;)

Motrax do a metal indicator in a kind of triangle shape. Comes in silver and black and is a direct copy of the Ducati performance ones only half the money.
Got them in black on my 750 and they look very good.

Thanks for that. Do they come with a threaded nut and bolt fitting, not like the standard ones?

Yep they do. Threaded with a nut on the back. If i remember correctly they will go straight through the standard holes on the mounting brackets. I'm sure there is no drilling.
If you go to the Motrax site i think they are called LED Arrows. Long stem for the front to get round the headlight and short for the rear.
