I dunno Didge, we got a christmas card from Dave and Ginger so they are still alive at least:mand: I believe we are meeting up with them in April for a few beers in a casino or two, i'll ask him then.

And on that note Fods, why is the lovely juggly Sam never posting anymore?

You read my mind Didge. Was only thinking the other day that a few UK regulars, and some from across the pond have gone quiet. Byron used to be a regular poster - even after his monster got mangled by that idiot in the pick up.

Byron you still out there mate?

Gary, Byron's been gone so long I almost forgot him. Shame about his bike, it was a real beaut!

Yo Didge,
Harley (and the delightful Jo) are still about, Harley still has the monster among other bikes, and is doing a complete rebuild of something oily & old. We catch up for grub every couple of months or so.
Had a rideout with Marky at the end of the summer, and he IS occasionally on here. (Phoenix has his old M600 for racing this year)
Dodgyknees got the hump with some forum users, after he had sold the bike to QGP so moved on.
Still keep in contact with 2 or 3 others, who have still got Ducati's, but no longer got monsters.

Diogenes was supposed to be getting another Monster though, he seemed to disappear at about the same time he was due to collect it from Italy.
Some of up from up here tried to contact him without much success, but at least we know he's OK.

I'm still here below the surface, it's just that I have moved to the Sunny Delight that is Swindon and due to the grand incompetance that is BT and ntl, I can't get an internet connection (nor phone or any TV) til at least the 27th. oh, and the bike went off road again sometime last year. It was still bloody hot I remember, so it must have been a while, Then followed the usual months to get the parts. It's getting a bit tedious this waiting for bits lark....

Got a reply from Byron...

Hi Gary:

I am still here, just not very active on the UKMOC lately. I have not found a replacement for the Monster yet. I had been waiting for the Paul Smart Sport Classic I ordered last year. When it came in I wasnt happy with the look and build quality of the bike so I decided not to buy it. I was looking for a 851 to build as a naked bike or a 90s 900ss to maybe build with one of the Baines Racing frames and wire wheels. So far I cant find a decent Monster but I keep looking. I did just buy a 73 Yamaha RD350 last week. It has some hot motor work and a few period racer bits. It might be my Bike Week ride if I dont find something soon. I really miss the gray bike, It was the best riding bike I had in years. I hope to get over to the UK this year. Maybe for Goodwood, Beaulieu or the NEC motorcycle show. Thanks for checking in with me. It is the kick I needed to keep looking for a new monster

Sure you can post my reply on the forum. I hope I dont get hate mail since I said I was not happy with the Paul Smart Sport Classic. After seeing the MH900e I expected the PS to be just as nice. To me the build quality was not there with the plastic chrome, plastic fuel tank, spotty paint and just overall fit and finish for so much money. I didnt have near that much in my Monster and almost every part was hand worked. Maybe after they are out for a while I can buy one used and tear it apart to make it better.

Your project should be fun when finished and get you some abuse at the UKMOC meet. I may have to make a special trip just to see the reactions.
Are you going to make the frame extensions in the trellis style like the rest of the bike? Sort of like Ducati had built a trike.

that's funny, Byron just posted in the thread on US ebay. Must have had his relationship rekindled as it were.

Nice to hear from him on all counts. I used to gawp in amazement at both his and Dom's seemingly never ending mods to the bikes (and never ending spending).

Some come and go, I know I'm on my second membership having asked FB to drop my original when the first monnie was sold. Others move to Swindon. :woot:
