Does any body else use limewire to download music???

It totally blows me away that when I'm in a more lucid state of mind I can get any song that pops into my head.:yoparty:

Limewire and a Mac rock.

It works well for me too, I was gonna say just make sure you have a good updated AV suite as some of the files can be a bit "ahem" suspect, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue on a mac.

it's great for the music & video clips, but even the most innocent search brings up porn, which is okay but means too much time is spent looking at stuff 'her in-doors' frowns upon::cens:

My son put limewire on my computer.
I wondered what the hell it was for,it was to replace something called winmx -didnt know what that did either.
(tails off into a rant about young people today....)

I much preferred winmx, thought it was easier to use. I can't get on with limewire and it annoys me. I know it's basically the same. I just thought the layout of winmx much easier to understand but well, download is a download.

I prefer Morpheus for that kind of thing.

I put limewire on my PC after my new spyware/antivirus software quarantined my music files, which were off "kazza lite", no problems so far and I've managed to upgrade to limewire pro from:

http://soft-best.net/index.php?language=eng

for free! and its faster!

WinMX is a Moped comapared to Limewire. Limewire is really the best it gets for searching and dling through Gnutella. Its specificity and filters make it quite simply the best.....thats the Pro version!! Never ever use "free" download clients...they aint really free.

Nik, Morpheus doesnt get the same coverage as Limewire, it cant connect to Peers anywhere near as well as Limewire and it has been know to have Ad-ware and Spyware attached despite what they say. Not as good as Limewire and possibly not even as good as Ares:worried:
D'you get that battery filled yet?

Cheers for the info Sean, I'll give Limewire a try sometime (if I ever get near my home PC again as it's usually accupied by my World of warcraft addicted 11 year old!).

Being the typical lazy bast*rd that I am I haven't got round to filling it yet! I did have a problem with my car this weekend. Went out to start it up and the battery did not have enough juice to turn the engine over (it's a diesel). As a result I had to buy a new 'un. Any good ideas as to how best I can decant the acid from the old one and transfer it into the new 'un? Or is that a bad idea altogether?

Sorry to hijack the thread br1an - I'm sure normal service will be resumed soon enough though!

don't use it to "investigate" new software, especially for the x-box. I've been hearing bad things about virus laden code and malicious stuff. That said, i loved limewire when I had it on my other works machine.

But that spoils the fun.

Limewire is great. I got a load of tracks that I couldn't get on legal sites like Virgin or HMV.
I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for music downloads, but if they can't be bothered to supply everything people want, then f**k 'em!

well if you want "fun" there are better methods than p2p file sharing. I use Lime and it's fine for me, Mr Richard_S still swears by the donkey but then he likes to download albums at a time? -or the ryan adams offficial site which takes anything from a week to a month depending on the weather..
