Hi there everyone, Happy new year to you all. Can any one help? I want a really good powerful battery for my S4, with good starting power, I have an optimate but still want a powerful battery. I tried to get an odyssey battery but none of them fit the battery tray under the fuel tank. Has anybody fitted a more powerful battery to their S4? If so can yo let me know where I can get one and how much please.
thanks
Steve

Steve,

I have a Westco fitted to my S4 12V12B-4 (AGM type).

Bought from here..

£40 + delivery

leak proof and far better than the std battery, they hold their charge much better and it hasn't let me down since fitted over a year ago.

Depends what you mean by more powerful.....you cant change the voltage and due to the size constraints you cant get more current. However technologies in batteries delivers what you get in different ways so get one of these. They aint cheap but if its what you want:

just to clear up the ambiguity in your post....you said you couldnt get an Odyssey to fit?....does that mean you couldn't get a current that you wanted in the size that you've got?
The std battery in at least Monsters without plumbing is a 14 amp hour battery, I think from memory the S4 has a smaller maybe 12 amp hour battery? If you get a thin plate battery in 12 amp hour you will find that it does it's job much better than a stock battery, thats why they're all in the 80-100 quid region.
Have a read of some of the material on the Aesir homepage, theres a fair bit there about thin plate technology and stuff.

Thanks chaps for your input, I must admit I did want an odyssey battery. The thing I was not sure about is with the odyssey it says it's 86mm thick when laid on it's side where as the standard battery is about 75mm, I was not sure I would be able to still close the tank. Did you have to do any modifications to get it to fit. The other two look good aswell, when I say more power, I ment I need more cranking power and I did realise that power would be limited regarding size.
Could you just let me know if you had to do any mods for the odyssey battery?
thanks
