Best set up Ive used is the TOMTOM navigator, a TOMTOM RIDER is now on sale, designed for bike use, but its pretty expensive about £600 I think, but its water and shock proof and links to a bluetooth earpiece in your helmet!
Is that expensive enough?

Get yourself a Garmin Quest connected through an Autocom to your helmet.

Check out http://www.touratech.de/shop_uk/enter.html

For everything you would like to know.

Bry...

Thanks for the help - I would like a GPS system for continental touring next Summer - a few friends have the Garmin 2610 on their Beemers, but there probably better systems available now - I will check out the Quest and the TomTom.
