I have just fitted a pari of stainless steel adusjter plates from spareshack.
the first thing that hit me was that the hole through the plate is too big for the rear axle. i would have though a snug fit was better.
nevermind i thought, and fitted them anyway.
but then, when i tighten the axle bolts, the seem to twist and bend. The two bits that hook under the swing arm dont seem to work too good, as the plate ends up rotated around the axle.
in my opinion, this is due to the axle hole being too big, allowing the plate to move around on the swingarm..
i guess a few of you people will have fitted them.. any problems with them ?

There's two different sizes of rear spindle.

They're normally a snug fit and shouldn't rotate at all.

mine rotated until I thought to hold it tight whilst tightening it? although for adjustment I take a measurement half way from the swing arm to the axle nut. A washer may help.

not too keen on the washer..got to keep it tidy.
i'll call spareshack tomorow, see if they can help.

I hear what you say but a stainless one would be fine?

Wot Crust said. Earlier monsters / SS used a smaller diameter spindle than the later / current models. Chances are you've just got the wrong one. Phoenix has replacement stainless plates on her race 600 monster and they're a perfect fit.

afraid not..
it would just fix a dodgy fix.
it would be a temporary fix for years to come.

a brief update: i phoned the nice chap at spareshack yesterday, who confirmed the two different sizes. He promised a free swap when he receives the ones he sent first. Cant get any fairer than that.
as an aside, would anyone know of a good source for ss rear axle bolts, and their size (the smaller one)?
