I like many on here have had more then one Ducati in the past. Do you ever wonder what happened to your old bikes? Do you keep in touch with the new owners? Do you avoid them if you sold them a nail????

My first bike was a 1997 M750 in Yellow, P520HJC. Bought off me buy 'Bill Smiths' in Chester in about 2001. Anyone any knowledge?

My second bike was a 900SS in Red, M904ACC, sold to a fellow in London in 2003. Doubt he'll be on here though.

My current bike is an M900 Dark with customised DP tank, (the sort that most people hate!), W102RNA. Anyone on here own it before me?

Anyone else looking out for lost love's?

Ta ta.

I was meaning to reply to this one before, and over the weekend we were having a sort out and I found all the old pics of my old M600.

Registration M421 EGH. I bought it in 1996 from 3X Motorcycles, and part ex'd it a year later for a new Speed Triple. Sorry to say that as much as I loved it I had all manner of expensive little problems, which soured my ownership experience.

I still look back at it with great fondness though - as a long devotee of Ducatis it was the cheapest way I was able to get on the ladder, and really the fulfillment of a dream for me to own one. Even when it went I always vowed I'd have another Ducati one day.

So the question is, does anyone on this forum own my old 600?? That would be pretty mad. If it's been crashed, written off, or tastelessly abused I'd rather not know. I think we would all like to think that when we sell vehicles on they will be loved and cherished just as much by their new owners. Funnily enough, the guy that Emily bought her Monster from was quite pleased to see it going to an enthusiast. It would be nice to know if it's still out there, and perhaps been treated to the Termis I could never afford to buy it....

cheers,

Nik

It wasnt me but i am slightly confused by your post, how dont you know who you sold your bike to?, was it through a dealer or something?

Incidentally i sold my last monster to mank skank a couple of years ago, and i actually bought my current S4 of one of the members here as well (no longer a member, gone to the other side)

Both transtactions were problem free and done without putting a penny in the pants of bike trader.

lets big it up for ukmoc!

I traded it in against my new bike, the dealer told me he sold it the following day to a chap for his wife.

I've only sold one bike and i was glad to see it go. Yamaha SR250 is not really to my liking. If you're going to be slow and pootle about, do it properly on a monkey  So I sold the Yam and got funky. And I'm not selling this one, or Kylie for that matter.

My first Ducati was an early 70's 250 SCR Street Scrambler I bought it in the late 70's - the previous owner had painted it black and fitted a megaphone 'silencer' - It was the coolest bike in town. I loved it and I now wish that I had kept it as they are extremely rare and sought after by the cognoscenti.

And now I have it from mank skank. I also bought it through this forum, which of course rocks!
So far my one and only bike, so no old flames apart from two cars that went to the scrap heap though...

Hey thats cool!, i hope it is going well for you. When i bought it it was completely standard, even down to the mickey mouse ear mirrors. I notice that you are in guildford, it seems that the bike has a homing device as i bought it from a guy in beckenham, kent (i used to live in bromley). I sourced all the bits (roadracing & flatsliders) from GR ducati in wimbledon, just by wimbledon dog track. I think they have now moved on but i am not sure. The guy that did the work for me was a real tip top mechanic(alec something or other). GR ducati was started by Claire Richie, whose husband, Graeme died in Brands hatch (as i recollect) racing ducatis in the BSB (or was it superstock?). I got friendly with em all and used to go to brands with them when Dave jeffries used to ride for them in the page3.com yamaha sponored R1s in the superstocks.

Ah, nostaglia, it aint what it used to be......

As I recently told Rich: I'm about to upgrade to twin front discs and slap on clip ons and rear sets while I'm at it. Will keep originals though, in case riding position becomes a pain. I have also got some nice polished covers for cam belts, valves and stator. Got a pair of RR mirrors too.

If the RR mirrors are anything like the DP ones that i use (which i seem to recollect they are) then they are a nightmare!, cant see a pesky thing, in fact i have given up on using my mirrors and they are only there for show.

Feck! That's awful! That would break my heart I think. What happened?

Read about a guy in the states who crashed his 900ss (same model) and that burst in to flame too.

Not happy with the Motrax bar ends I have. Can't see much in them either. If the RR mirrors don't improve vision at least they'll make the bike look better since the bar ends make the bike look to wide. ;)

My old M600 was sadly written off - not by me though :(

I used to have one of these when I was 16... ok, so it's not a Ducati, and it wasn't even red (I had the yellow version) - but I thought a picture might cheer up Angry from Ipswich at least...

Unfortunately my sister used it for a while, and didn't realise two strokes need oil... once the engine had seized it sat in the shed for a while, but goodness knows what happened to it - I think my brother took it to the dump...

A sad day for monkey lovers everywhere...

They are still around but moved to a different place on weir road but still in wimbledon. Changed their name to Ducati Proteam and I used to think it was Ducati Protein until I saw it written on their letterhead! Thought that Protein was a really cool name for a garage but I digress.

Anyway, Alec still works there along with another guy and I think that Claire moved back to to Scotland with her little boy. I haven't been there for a while yet so hope they are still going but I don't see their name mentioned much on the Ducati Forums.

Anyway, all really good eggs and recommended.
