I did once buy a dualit toaster (I am a ponce if you have not already guessed) at the same as John Lewis retail price, thankfully the toaster looks fine on the monster whereas this carbunkle.....

To be honest I don't get it. I use ebay and have bought a fair bit of stuff. But I _regularly_ see stuff being sold for more than what you can get it for retail - especially cds/dvds/vidgames etc which I buy alot of here.

google is king :-) ebay _may_ get you a bargain

And if it's any consolation I've paid a fair bit more than I should have done and regretted it. Just a learning experience....
