View Full Version : Should we stop having polls?

The amount of polls on here lately......
What do YOU think?
this is an interesting one, the answer i feel is not just a simple yes or no. i think you should be polling the question "should we be having a poll about the importance of polls?".
i am sure you would then begin to unravel peoples true feelings towards polls.

You could be right Dean. I shall see about the possibility of editing original poll to include your thoughts on a polling question or what perhaps the question should have been. Or I could run a separate poll....hmmmmmmm.
I have investigated the possibility of editing but it's not possible. I feel the need now to say sorry as I am unable to include your thoughts on this in my original poll. Perhaps I ought to have a poll to see if I need to apologise. If anybody thinks I should then please feel free to let me know using the old tried and trusted method of cut and paste, failing that, I have no objections to any further polls on the subject. I hope I haven't upset anybody.

I don't think we should discriminate, but then again, they might start asking questions in the "Mother Tongue" and we would need a Polish interpretor....it might get a bit confusing.....
And what if one of these Polls or Russians drives a BMW X5 4x4, that could cause real problems....
Or they could just be eastern block spies....looking for Dean!! its all a bit worrying....
Regards
The town where i live is quite small, famous for it's copper mines and mackeral farming. We are quaint and insular, much like the folk out of the film " the wicker man"
However lately, due to the lifting of the eastern blockades, we are experiencing hoardes of polls overwhelming our small and incestuous community.
I am fortunate enough to have fortified gardens around my small but perfectly formed dwelling, however in my office i am not so lucky, the polls are swarming around the city centre, occasionally coming in to my office asking for mackeral scraps or spare copper.
I shall put a sign up at once asking the polls to get back in their banana boats and shove off, that'll sort it.
Good thread this, i like it.

The thing is they are bloody hard workers and will happily graft for 20 quid a day? which makes it hard for the British labour force. Polish women are lovely.
I think we should stop having people get their knickers in a twist, taking offence, being so literal, having a cry, threatening to leave "at this outrageous behaviour...oh my!! it puts me in mind of the dark era at visordown...such a tremendous loss blah blah" and generally pathetic.IMO JCB TCP PDQ

Um, I think you've misunderstood the question. I believe that the polls you mention are not a problem (how would all buildings get built and car windscreens get washed - a recipe for disaster if ever I heard one) - bring in more I say.
My concern is if there were less polls, what would those lovely ladies dance around. My guess is that they would be cast out onto the street and their wardrobe of dancing wear doesn't look the best equipped for the rapidly approaching perils of a British Winter. Obviously, if polls were to be banned (a likelyhood in this nanny state we are advancing towards - you could have someone's eye out with that poll - pur leese. Whatever happened to personal accountability?) But I digress, if (or when) polls are banned, I will do my best to take in a few of this discarded ladies and keep them warm in whatever way I can, I'm sure that my wife will back me all the way. But what of the others, I'm genuinely concerned.

I have a freind who is of Polish extraction. Her cousin, Bronic, was over here recently doing some work for me and he mentioned how cheap some of the autocare products are back home..
Could we have a poll on the best Polish polish...

(Coritash is polish for corridor)
forgot about the dancing ladies, maybe the lithuanians could stand in for a while, i'm sure they wouldnt mind. Theres less of them about but they are hard workers and cheap too!

Im a bit concerned, I dont mind Polish women or even Lithuanians working in our lap dancing clubs, (even though they are taking money from our own, hardworking British Ladies)
What concerns me is handing out wads of £50.00 notes to Russian women, who used to be shotputters or hammer throwers back home.
I just dont think they would have the "Right Moves"...if you get my drift!
I mean, just look at Deans latest bird!!

Craig it is this alarmist rhetoric that plays into the arms of the political right, lets keep the knee jerks for the lap dancers eh!? We have already established that Deans new bit of fluff is in fact just Geoff Capes trying to pull a fast one. try not to worry.

Look you lot are sooo stupid if we dont have polls then how are road sweepers going to work and if they cant work we will have horse pooh all over the road which will make us bikers crash and stuff.
It is too much of a grey area!! I mean what length would you allow where would a stump end and a poll begin
p.s. camping would also be a no no unless you have one of those space age circular tents and bent polls were allowed

Stereotyping. I think that is the root of a lot of this misunderstanding. Me, I wish I was clever to sterotype but I'm strictly a one fingered typer me.
My parents had a radiogram if that counts though. Unfortunately, my brother and I broke it by seeing if we could push all the buttons in at the same time, we did it but then there were no buttons left to push to pop them back out again hence the breakage. Hindsight, a wonderful word - perhaps I should use it more often. But back on topic, Karel Poborsky, he's a poll I think but not too good at the dancing lark?
chim, chimeree, chim, chimeree, chim, chim, cheree....

And, of course, it's harder to see in the dark without the polls. Or tell if an area is a 30mph due to their spacing. Maybe less polls would cut electricity costs and light polution but, generally, keep the polls as they are, I say.
Not to mention horses ears.

I'd like to challenge the validity of using a Poll to decide if there are too many Polls.
If members believe there are too many Polls they may be unwilling to vote, this would scew the result in favour of the pro-Poll voters.
Do you think we should we have a Poll to decide if Poll is the best way to decide if there are too many Polls?

All this talk of polls is driving me up the pole...There are differing views on polls and quite frankly, some of these views are poles apart.
I await a comment by Poleroid Dave to put this in some kind of perspective.

Yes, but Paul, the anti-poll voters would still not vote. Maybe we need a different type of poll. A pollless poll, a Zen poll if you like.

I agree with what he said, this seems to be polarising the debate? can I sit on the fence pole on this one?

who appointed this clown chief of the thought poll-eece?
CraigMac

Maybe we should just throw all of our differing views into a kind of melting pot and see what we come up with... a sort of Poll Pot...
Im so very, very, sorry...
who appointed this clown chief of the thought poll-eece?
i think he was voted in, in a kind of ballot or something.you know, where people take a view, then collate the views then publish the results to establish the most and least popular etc.
I think he does have a point, the references are getting a bit circular, shall we all pile over and hijack one of the national event threads?
i mean lets face it, we've kicked the living **** out of this one!
whose with me and where shall we go?

If it's to be a democratic decision as to what we do and where we go, then it must be another poll to decide. However, if you have already decided in what can only be termed an undemocratic way, even though you could be right and have successfully gauged and pre empted the response, then go ahead! You have also rather undemocratically appointed yourself chief and therefore usurped Mark Cross and his previous position. If it is possible to have a Zen poll and I very much like that idea, then you will know the answer shortly. As will we.

In a 'spreading the love' way which should be plentiful in this yuletide run-up, I would suggest in a totally non-democratic way (but, hey it friday, so silliness in abundence should be actively encouraged), that we find the least viewed threads and offer our pearls of wisdom over there. Fred with his manuals and Viv with his single sided monster threads need a bit of love.
I would however like put it to the vote and have a quick straw poll (Worzel Gummidge style) before departing to pastures new.

there is an interesting thread concerning the swallowing of salty fluids by top comedienne Chappers. I'm not going first though as I am afraid of bigger boys and men with 4x4's and compensation issues.....
I find this thread pretty discusting really.
it's a revaulting poll.
