just got a pair for 150 (new) they look like the talon jobs but i suspect they are clones, black/steel so not too gaudy. Just off to the fastner boys now...

May have to lob a matching set of pads in Yerbs, as they don't always work to well with the standard jobbies?

Hey Yerbs,
I'm guessing you got the discs on a Buy It Now from our old friend ebay (gotta love that retail hit)?
Saw them earlier, and am presently trying to justify a purchase to myself. Ideally I need tyres more, but these seem too cheap to pass up!
My head says my existing brake discs work fine, my shiny thing receptors say NEEEEEEEEED!!!!

thats the boy, two days later ta daa! My front left is ten years old and sounds a bit warped, plus I have just bought a pair of calipers for a twin upgrade so I thought why not. I am also a very rich man.
Alex.
ps.At first I thought "ooh these seem a bit wobbly and loose!?!" untill I asked Jeeves what "free floating" meant... If any women find this lack of technical know how in any way sweet or endearing then please can I have a sympathy shag?...bless him.

Cool, well let us know what your impressions are when you try them out - the one thing that puts me off with a slightly unknown quantity (or unknown brand in this case) is I once heard a bad report on some aftermarket discs.
Hope they're good though, that'll make the bargain even sweeter!

Sideways float is okay but rotational float is an MOT fail.

I bought some wavey discs, with nice gaudy anodised blue centres you'll be pleased to know. They are Stealth Viper discs and they recomend the discs are broken in for at least 500 miles with standard pads before using sintered. Afraid I dont know why maybe something to do with heat generated by sintered pads and the discs needing to harden to avoid warp ????
Dont know if this is really relevant to the discs you bought but thought it worth a mention.

hmmm curious? spoke to chap yesterday, he received my sisters cheque but the poor fool has just fallen of his supersport (quite badly) thus delaying the post office, he is going to get his wife to do it, which is a bit of a drag but hey, I appreciate your curiosity. It will be ready when it's ready as they say. Sintered seem to be the norm these days though in any case? they go on tomorrow (bike on blocks again....)
Alex.

Got them on now, despite the lack of forward paddock stand -3 people, 2 breeze blocks and some timber- thank you to Nick SM for the wheel tip (book of half truth etc) not one bolt sheared, ironicall did shear the 1/2 - 3/8 or whatever it is torque convertor.....should be able to stop properly now and the old disc was down to 3.5 and a bit warped.

Now this I gotta see....
Not a fan of waveys myself, but every one to their own.. but then he does like Z4's...
Have you road tested them yet?
A Yerbury
13-11-2005, 08:39 PM
road tested one, still need a braid and double balalika bolt for the other, much like the brembo but a bit cleaner. trust me this thing is understated, black/steel, stainless bolts..nothing tacky.
AY.
the marks on the fender are frost/moisture/condensation one or all of the above.

But what about the Oil advert? Never really understood this, does it give you a petrol discount? That I would understand.
I know...it says Ducati on my bike, but I went to no measures to put it there.

It covers a mark where the goodridge was rubbing off my extra special paint job. do pay attention.
Alex.
ps. I do hear what you are saying about these sponsor stickers, most very tacky, overdone and hideous designs ...however some of the early ones stp, gulf, michellin and the agip wolf are classy designs, the agip and the brembo elephant work well with the bike as the respective companies have an intertwined heritage. lesson over for today.

I like them very much Alex.Maybe next year for me. Are you getting a rear one too ??
I had the same sort of marks on my painted front on the 900. Unfortuneately it was red under black

not in any rush to, despite them being wavey I only really bought them out of necessity and because they were so reasonable. I hardly use the rear what with it being rubbarsh and all that.

Looking very trick Mr 'A'
I quite fancy blowing a bit of surplus on a set for the trike next spring?
On the subject of a matching wavey on the rear - I fitted one Spareshack's Ultralite rears and new pads in the summer. Transformed the rear stopper from "non-existent" (got a bit lairy at mallory) to "locks up on demand" for £65. Money well spent for me as I use the rear brake a fair bit.
I guess you would prefer the wavey style to match, as the Ultralite is more of a cheese grater design TBH.
Picture's a bit poxy as I had to photo catalogue....

Certainly explains the somewhat odd placing of it.

I see your point. Some (many) things were much better in the 'old days'. And nostalgic stickers/patches with old designs from now dead companies can actually be heart warming in a way.

I had a funny conversation the other day with a bloke who's mate used to have a Ducati, he asked if it was true that you could only use Agip in the bike. He thought that there might be an additive? I told him I was sure both my manuals promoted the use of Shell, and anyway where would I get the Agip from? Wasn't Agip the Italian state owned oil company? It was probably law to use it.

there was an agip tie in, all the hynes and ducati merchandise used to specify agip (which is quite pricey stuff) plus it only came back into the uk distribution network a little while back...I think...maybe.
