hello all, ive just been looking back at posts on singole sided arms and possible conversions to monsters to accept the arm, i must say that there seem to be quite a few people interested in doing this conversion but as many people advising against it based on cost. Ther is no dought that it is not a cheap conversion but there again it does transform the whole appearence of the monster, especially with a underseat exhaust. I am at present finishin my 7th single side monster and also in the process of doing the same mod to a 750ss which is also very different in its appearence, so if anyone would like to discuss the pros and cons of this mod please feel free to call me, viv cowley, mb 07711 821170,

alright viv.
I'm just down the road in Abingdon.i would like to have a look at one of your single sided monsters some time. My bike is on the way to being finished from a list of mods and the swing arm was on that list but has'nt been done yet. It's a bit tatty and i was going to get it powder coated but i'm quite interested in changing it too. Maybe after xmas when the weather's better and when my bike is finished i'll see you down Fox's some time.
Cheers.

is that your old one Grant from 2 & a half years ago?

or your new one, which you havent been seen out on yet?

Viv its much cheaper these days to buy a 2nd hand S4R or S2R which both have a single sider - this single sider lark was 'cool' 2 or 3 years ago, but with those bikes about, the factory have copied all these conversions

Easier to buy a single sider off ebay from one of those, which will bolt straight on to the engine rather than doing all the mods - isnt it? Just means the frame will need modding on the older carbed bikes to take it.

Hi All,

I'm new here... I signed up because I have a 2003 Monster 1000s and want to fit a single sided swingarm to it.

Yes it's cheaper / easier to buy the arm off an S4r etc, but I don't reckon they look as good as the old style.

I spoke to a guy who said that Grant in the UKMOC was making some plates that you can use to convert your Monster... Is that true? Do you have any Pics of the plates?

My plan was to cut and lengthen the swingarm (at the pivot points), cut and move the shock / ride height mount on the swingarm, and machine the engine casings to accept the narrower swingarm...

Any reason why my plan wouldn't work?

I also want to remove the oil cooler... I think it spoils the look of the engine. Anyone have any comments?

Cheers
Trent
