the shame on your family chappers must be unbearable. When I think of how many worthy people could have had that organ instead of him, I'll bet anything if he pulls through he'll be in the boozer within a week. Just how lucky is that bloke, I'm looking forward to seeing it run out.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments regarding this old drunk, I think looking forward to his luck running out is somewhat harsh Dave. ...even by your "Mr Angry of Ipswich" standards!

whilst i don't retract my statement, I meant it in a way that would be beneficial to the rest of the country, rather than cruel to Mr Best. Just think about no longer having to see him in the news every week and watching clips of him kicking a ball which apparently he used to do well, with the voiceover "in more recent years has been better known for.." I bet the day he dies he'll be treated like a hero on every tv show as well.
I should also explain that in my past i have been all to close to transplant patients, seen their eternal wait on the lists, shared the pleasure and the pain and lost a few friends along the way. When you get a gift like that you treat it kindly and take life with both hands, not pi55 it up against the wall and stick two fingers up to the world. Yeh alcoholism is a disease, but a self inflicted one.
Still shocked?

Can't believe you said that to be honest!
Fortunately for you, I'm not to close to him personally and our family haven't really had much to do with him for the past few years but in my eyes, career wise he is/was a sporting legend, yes he has lived a priveleged life and basically p1ssed it up the wall but he's also suffered in other areas of his life, which incidentally had nothing to do with his drinking.
At the same time I can see the point you are trying to get at with regards to other unfortunate, nice, normal people who have major health issues but I don't take kindly to your attitude and wording on this one :(
