Frame painting...properly. Is this just a step too far? My frame is a gold colour and I would like it to be black. Or are we talking...just wait and buy a bike with a black frame :)

i wanted to do the same once, but then i photoshop'd it and decided gold looked better. mine's a black bike though where is yours is yellow, i think a black frame sounds great but get the swingarm done at the same time for that all over look. :D

I did mine black, good results if you take time on it, the swing arm is quite easy too. If you paint the hanger brackets unless you powdercoat the paint will rub off.

I have a spangly black frame with a red tank - swing arm comes next. I'll eventually take some pictures one day. For me, black is tres sexy.
mine is PC black, but i prefer gold...

Ha ha...you know, this is all because I'm still sitting here looking at bloody photos of my bike! I only had it in my hands for 12 hours!!!
Boredom + Frustration + Photoshop = Carbony, Aluminiumy, Yellowy, Blacky, Silvery, Retro Decaly, Vintage Decaly...
Arghhhh...just give me my god damn bike back so I can just ride the bloody thing! :(

That's what I wanted to change on my bike and the mods sort of snowballed from there.
If you want the job done properly (rather than a diy job with Airfix paints (does they still exist?) and a quality sable brush)) then it means taking the bike to bits and getting it either painted, enamelled or powder coated. To take the bike to bits and put it back together and get it painted, it will cost you at least £800 - £1000. If you intend on keeping the bike for a few years or are handy with a tool or two, then you can obviously save yourself a lorra, lorra sovs guvnor. If not, then you have to pay a man who can. You pays yours money, etc, etc, ad lib to fade......
I'm sure some more resourceful types will tell you how to do it on the cheap and without dismantling the bike but me, I know nothing, Meester Fawlty.
Personally speaking, I think that the best bit (well, one of them) about the Monster is the trellis frame - often copied but never bettered and to paint it black so that it is less visible seems a bit strange to me? But each to their own as they say. Onwards and upwards say I.

I agree it is one of the best bits, although it can look a bit shabba ranks after 10 years or so. Black helps it disapear, just enough (the zip ties get lost too) a black engine keeps it two tone and then all one really notices is the tank (the best bit) I used sperex black and petrol res lacquer (as I could'nt find sufficient quantities of "chaos black" at my local games workshop) you just need a dry weekend..

Thank you soooooooo much for that! You see, it's just too much time sitting in front of this God damn computer. You are so right, it's why I've been in love with them from a distance for over 10 years now! OK, I'm switching off this computer now until I have a my bike back in 3 weeks time. Have a look at my other thread though http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=14696
...if you can add anything [other than totally unnecessary £1000 cosmetic surgery] then let me know, I'd really appreciate it :)
