Have just had new front tyre after 10k miles on a pilot sport (is that a record or bl**dy lucky?). Now realise it needs a 28mm socket to sort out the front. Adjustable spanner OK, but not great. Any ideas where to get one as they don't seem to be standard at the Halfords near us ?

A big Halfords ought to have the socket sizes you need? (you'll also need a 30mm for the rear btw) - I was in my local branch the other day and was impressed by their current range of tools... not bad prices either, considering their multinational corporationess...

1/2" drive would be the way to go for something that big, and you should really use a torque wrench too...

Hi Carole

There is a little place near the hostpital in loughborough that sell any size tool you need. Thats where Jmo got my socket for the KTM rear wheel.

Jen Tell Mrs Jel where it is and what its called..

Ah yes, that Aladdin's cave... can't remember the name, but it's on a little trading estate opposite the main entrance to Loughborough Hospital - it looks like a row of sheds, but the tool place is full of goodies - they have all sorts including a range of torque wrenches...

You woz robbed - mine £4.70 (still 3x the e-bay price). That really didn't seem too bad - £29 for a 46mm for the Sprint ST - and they say Ducati's are dear !

Did you buy that 46mm one? - I've got a tool shop down my way that list that size for £13.50... but it is a 3/4" drive, not 1/2" drive, so you'll need an adaptor or 3/4" drive bar too...

Unfortunately did buy 46mm from Triumph :(
Just goes to show this must be a better class of web site cos you can get useful (and money saving) advice, although by the time you add the 3/4" drive bar, it'd probably be about the same as the 1/2".
