Recently visited SPR, a tuning workshop here in Nottingham, who told me Blue Flame exhaust were c*&p. Shame I'd bought one for my Suzuki SV650 a couple of days earlier. :(

Don't want to make the same mistake wiv my S4R, but don't know if I want to go down the Termignoni road either.
SPR seemed mega impressed with Akropovic systems wiv "9 out of 10 bikes at GP's prefer em", type of statement.

Any opinions?

Like the look of Marving, wot yawl reckon? :)

Lee1980 will be along to sing then merits of akra.. Ive got a termi hi level system (termis do look right on a duke dont they??!) , but if im honest an akrapovics probably better made (and cheaper) - they also look very good. Not sure about marving - very cheap though.

Sil motors are another option..either way your best deal is with stu at spareshack.. :D

Hope your enjoying the bike mate anyway

P.S The blokes right about BF..I heard that the BF cans on the monstermob ducatis werent even made by them - they just had the badge..

I've always had Termis on my Duc's.........until I tried Arrows on my 996. I've got a c/f system coming for my S4R as I prefer the looks of the 2 on one side and the cans look a bit different .
The S4R replaces the 996 that I thru down the road.............just in case you though I was greedy and had 2 Dukes  ..........I wish....

Bunny, I did consider the Spark system but not to sure about sound levels. They are a race system arn't they. ie blummin loud, with MOT implications.
Is that a fairing brace I spy in the pic? If so, please give details.

Any pics to help me with my exhaust choice would be gratefully recieved, as would MOT problems.

Good thing about the akra is baffles that bolt in or out and have the e mark stamped on for legality obviously illegal with baffle removed but i think most cops wont know

You can put baffle in if u want it quiet makes it sound like stock then :D

Sils or Arrow in my opinion are as good as you can get plus they both have the options of road legal with removable baffle. The Spark we can also get in this form but delivery is a little longer than with the other two brands. If you want my advise stay away from British cans on Duc's, they're okay on jap bikes but I've sold many Italian replacements over the years to owners who had ART etc only to find they got blown to bits by the Vee-twin thud.

Our website is being rebuilt so currently doesn't have the latest options on it but if you want prices let me know what sort of finish you're after and if you want road legal, full or part system and I'll sort you out a cracking deal.

Cheers

Spares Guru

Couple of questions:
How much for full Sparks system road/race?
Are there any MOT requirements about losing the cat?

Regards :burnout:

Hi,

Apologies for the delay replying, somehow overlooked the message in my inbox. Anyway, there is no issue with the MOT if the cat is removed as long as the system replacing it is EU approved. That may change in the future but for now emissions on bikes aren't a big deal.Cost on the approved Spark system is about 5% more than the race one, so 788 pounds and 750 pounds respectively + vat and less 10% club discount. Delivery would be 2/3 weeks at present.

Hope this helps

regards

I went for the Arrows as I like the twin stacked exhaust look and wanted removable baffles. Sound nice and look good, removal of the colostomy bag is next on the list :D
If you want to have a look and listen drop me a pm, only live down the road from SPR :)

I find the stock system on the S4R rather innocuous-sounding, not very Ducati-like! I don't know whether to just get rid of the cat but keep the stock silencers or go for a full road-legal system. I don't want a system that will upset the neighbours (well not too much anyway!) Is the spark road-legal system significantly louder than the straight through pipes with the stock silencers or is there not much to choose between them? I do like the look of the Spark system. Any help would be appreciated.
